Favre would never have done such a thing with Rodgers back in the day. Maybe Cousins is embracing his role as elder statesman/mentor. If that is the case, I am warming up to his place on the team. I would still prefer Mendoza start the season on the field but not my call. I am just a fan who wants to see the future from the start.Jeevo wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 5:22 pm Liking the Cousins acquisition more each day. This is what his personality is. He played hs around this area and Sparty is about an hr from Grand Rapids. He still does events and commercials for local businesses and places around here. He has a good sense of humor and is more or less like Mendoza personality wise in that he's kind of corny and geeky but he knows it and embraces it. His personality and the person he is should never be in question. He's a genuinely likable guy and knows the reality of his situationJeevo wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 5:22 pm Liking the Cousins acquisition more each day. For all intents & purposes, Penix had nothing but good things to say about him as far as leadership and helping him in Atlanta. The negative stuff was made up by fans

Seems to be very much a team guy. I doubt he will ever concede the role but as you have said he seems to understand the reality of things and wants to enjoy the ride.Hellbound wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 5:02 am This is what his personality is. I could see Cousins being traded at some point this year when Mendoza is ready.

Razo is a hack. He has bounced around and cannot keep a job. Now he is pushed down to Heavy as a freelance writer because nobody is hiring him. As for Rob Parker? While his education is solid, he has made some really questionable comments in the past. Calling out Robert Griffin III in a very inappropriate way. Completely insulting Rod Marinelli with a personal question directed at his daughter. Calling Hank Arron a coward? And his segments on TV are mostly a joke. He plays the race angle and talks about stuff that happens in the locker room. Guy is a joke. f[raiders_icon]ck that pile of shit. He is Stephen A without the credibility.

I still think that Cousins will end up starting game 1. However, with the bye week coming in week 13, there's no obvious predictive point for Mendoza to take over. Cousins is going to need to play pretty well to hang in there a while and I don't think he's gonna be at the level to keep Mendoza at bay for long.

I give him the first half of the season at most and even though I don't see it happening, Iwouldn't be surprised if he's on the bench come game one. I think one of the reasons that he's here is to take the lumps the first month or so of the season until the oline and offense starts to gel, then take a back seat to Mendoza. We've all seen what happens to qbs that get thrown into shitty situations and while we all have hope & optimism, this is still a shitty team until proven otherwisechucker wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 6:40 am I still think that Cousins will end up starting game 1. Luckily for the Raiders, we start with the Dolphins and Saints in 2 of the first 3 games.

I’m not sure if it was the “You like that!!” thing, or what, but a lot of fans seem to have a negative view of him. It’s been an eye opener and I’m glad he’s mentoring Mendoza, for a year at least.Hellbound wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 5:02 am This is what his personality is. PS - I do remember when he yelled that out and a former player TV personality pointed out at the time that he was popular with his teammates.

I would bet he starts game 1 too, (can you actually bet on that somewhere?) and I think given everything it’s a sound plan at this moment.chucker wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 6:40 am I still think that Cousins will end up starting game 1. They could have been watching film instead.

There seems to be a generalized dislike for his Hall of Fame level career in contract negotiations. I’ve never really felt anything about him. I’m certainly not gonna hate on the guy for making money.Jeevo wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 9:22 am I’m not sure if it was the “You like that!!” thing, or what, but a lot of fans seem to have a negative view of him. Now though, he’s in S&B, so I’m pullin’ for him to do well until Mendoza is ready. Dude seems like a team player and has embraced his role as mentor. The Kubiak/Shanahan tree love him.
I’ll say this, I like him more than a bunch of QB’s we’ve thrown out there since Gannon, simply by virtue of not disliking him.

Such a good dude. Knows it would hang on that boy that he dropped the pass, so without a 2nd thought he runs over to grab the ball, fires another one, and lets the kid redeem himself. Just a solid human being who focuses on what’s truly important.
