2026 NFL Schedule and early leaks

Unread post by Rabidraider »

The NFL will reveal the full schedule for the 2026 season on Thursday night, but they have announced one marquee Week 1 game on Monday.

The first Sunday Night Football matchup of the season will see the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to face the Giants on NBC on September 13. It will be the eighth time in 15 seasons that the two NFC East clubs have faced each other in Week 1.

No prime time games is crazy work.

Time to make them flex us into some prime time games late in the year.

It's likely if this team is competing late. We do get a prime time pre season game though .

On a separate note, I never really bought into the strength of schedule nonsense. Show me an easy one?

Well. Until further notice, no NFL team is easy….for the Raiders.

But for other NFL teams that have been proven competent? The Dolphins would appear to be an easy one.

At NYJ would be easy too for a competent NFL team.

At AZ would be easy as well for a competent NFL team.

You could look at the Cardinals to see what it's really like to get shafted. One season out of the past 4 with a primetime game.

This is not that bad of a schedule even though we have one more away game.

Gotta hand it to the “competition committee”, going off of memory, for the last several years now we have only had 1 or 2 stinker schedules, one of which was last years. We don’t have any concerns about going on the road for Thursday or Monday night games and we have no short weeks. We do catch 3 teams coming off there byes and all 3 times we are on the road to play those teams. We play in Denver towards the end of November so we’ll have to wait and see how the weather is at that point but it’s likely only 2 cold weather games.

Our season could very well be defined by the beginning of the season. Our first 12 games 7 of them are on the road and if we only wind up beating the Dolphins, Jets and Browns we will be 3-9 at that point going into our bye. After our bye if we win 3 of the 5 that’s 6 wins so we will need to probably find a way to win 3 other games somewhere for a shot at the playoffs.

The Patriots are already on thin ice, and maybe we can pick off the Saints who might be 0-2 and reeling at that point? Who knows how the Chargers are going to be as they were supposed to be a contender last year and it looks as though Harbaugh is already losing his grip on the team. That coming out and pumping up Herbert by slamming down on his shoulder pads is old news.

9 of our games come against teams that made the playoffs last year and 2 of our other games are against the Chiefs. So that is 11 in total in a 17 game season against good teams. I like where our bye is because if Fernando doesn’t start but has come in and been playing for even quite a few games at that point it seems to me it gives him a break to take it all in before playing some more. If not, he could come in after the bye and potentially play 3 games at home and they can evaluate from there.

Good schedule.

Dolphins

Two teams both with new coaching, we gotta fill up Allegiant. Will Fernando be our starter?

At Chargers

They play the Cardinals the week before at home so they are probably 1-0 and don’t have to go anywhere.

At Saints

It’s there season opener at home and our 2nd week in a row on the road but we are early in the season so we will still be fresh. There first two games they open against the Lions in Detroit and then go to play the Ravens in Baltimore. They could be 0-2 and reeling by the time we face them.

Chiefs

There 2nd week in row on the road. Can we please keep OUR stadium full?!!

At Patriots

Before we face them they will have played… At Seahawks, Steelers at home, At Jaguars, At Bills. They could be 0-4 by the time we roll into town. 3 of there first 4 games are on the road and from where I’m sitting that Steelers game at home with 10 days to prepare for them looms large. Out of our first 5 games 3 of them are on the road, this won’t be a cold weather game.

Buffalo

We catch them on the road after a Monday night which is nice with the added benefit it's there 2nd week in a row on the road. On the downside it’s in L.A. against the Rams. Too bad they weren’t playing back east but we still have the benefit of catching them on a short week.

Rams

After there Monday night against the bills they play at home again against the Cardinals.

At Jets

It will be there 2nd week in a row at home but we missed another cold weather game.

At 49ers

Horrible, our 2nd week in a row on the road and we caught them coming off there bye. On the flip side of the coin we are now past the halfway point of the season and have played 5 games away v. 4 at home.

Seahawks

KK faces his old team. They are coming off two weeks in a row at home.

At Broncos

Thumbs down, we catch them coming off there bye. Shoulder season in Denver?

At Browns

And yet our 3rd game of the year catching an opponent coming off of there bye. This is also at the end of November so we should probably expect it to be cold.

BYE

Chargers

Is this where Fernando makes his debut? We get them at home coming off our bye but they have already seen us so not to much of a mystery I suppose. It will also be there 2nd week in a row on the road. If they have already faded or are fading at this point hopefully we can fill our own stadium.

Broncos

They are in New York the week before playing the jets so this will be there 2nd week in a row on the road.

Titans

Glancing at there schedule and taking into account an all new coaching staff and Ward who didn’t look good last year having to learn a new offense they might be anywhere from 0 to 5 wins by the time we face them?

At Cardinals

And with the 1st pick in the 2027 NFL draft the Arizona Cardinals select… They are in a brutal division with a brutal schedule. By the time we face them they may not even have a win.

At Chiefs

I hate this game. I really, really hate it at least at this point. Would have been nice to swap this game with the Cardinals game. If Fernando is sitting the entire season it would be nice to at least get him one game and the final game of the season would be nice but I wouldn’t want to stick him out in Chiefs stadium in the freezing cold. If by this time he has already played a few games I would be inclined to sit him and make sure he doesn’t hurt himself in the very last game. There is also the possibility that the chiefs maybe in and sit all there players for this game. Hopefully they are out of the running!

That's a brutal stretch from weeks 4 through 8. I'm sure that's where our usual "who are the top draft candidates for 2027?" talk will commence.

Gm
Im glad we have no prime time games. We can go about our business without being in the spotlight.
Mendoza can start at any time without being on national TV within 2 weeks.

Our week 10 by works. Close to coinciding with the college year allowing young players to rest at a time they're used to and a good time for vets to get a break.
Im not a fan of the early week 5 by.

Side note? I dont have to buy 4 streaming platforms to watch the season. Yayy

It is a fairly reasonable schedule. I think the league does teams a disservice by having bye weeks really early or really late but we have in the past been in the middle. I guess it was our turn to have one really late.

I am thinking of hitting up NO this year again, but I need to look at flights. With fuel costs right now, it is getting crazy how expensive flying is.

We play two of our preseason games vs teams we will play during the season.

That seems odd.
