He seemed the guy who would be at home training but I've seen infinitely more public events/interviews/shows he's been on than training events or home videos.

Genuine question, not ragging the guy, but how can he be training hard if he's traveling the nation making appearances? Seems counter of what he's talked about these last 3 months
I think it depends on the prospect and how marketable the media views them to be. Ward and Caleb Williams were not the best interview but I remember Lawrence getting quite a lot of fanfare. It helps when the presumptive 1st overall wins the Natty, I think. Then you add that Mendoza is the Heisman as well and it makes for an easy interview.

Hope he never talks about playing the PlayStation in his off time, this place would go nuts.

His agent is prepping the space for future endorsement deals. He'll be fine.

This is probably the results of the NIL.

There are gyms in hotels now. Marlins first pitch, at home in Florida. A couple interviews not done in person. This is probably the first time he's received this much attention, hopefully he stays grounded. This all goes away once rookie camp starts. His team will manage his schedule and time with the Raiders. Maybe Kubiak was correct in bringing Cousins in now. Mendoza started working on the 2025 season in January, now rookie camp is early May. That's about a 4-5 month difference to get acclimated to a new offense.

Out of these 3 QBs, Lawrence was known the day he stepped on the Clemson campus. He was destined to be a Franchise QB/ 1st overall pick Day 1 at Clemson, so he's been on the radar for a bit. Ward came out of nowhere.

Despite how I felt about our Nine Year Rookie, I never put much stock into the criticisms of him playing video games. At some point, regardless of your job, you have to have down time. How one chooses to spend that is up to them. I used to work insane hours and all I could do at the end of the day or evening was eat like shit and stare at the TV while work matters ran on an endless loop in the back of my mind. To say it was unhealthy is a severe understatement.

Mendoza for me is on the second tier of guys with Herbert & Maye in regards to how i viewed them coming out, where you can see a couple of thing that need work but the body of work & year to year improvements are there for you to see

Mendoza does have those question marks no doubt but real fixable ones unlike say an Anthony Richardson where everything you could see was wrong

Can’t wait to get this kid behind centre to get things started

Fernando played against both Caleb Williams & Cam Ward on a much lesser team in Cal and took both games down to the wire in 1 point losses. His Cal resume and what he was able to do with what that team was is underrated & often overlooked. You then parlay that into the overall growth he had at Indiana & you have something pretty special

Great smile, squeaky clean, and seriously intelligent. I have no idea how closely he’ll follow his hero Brady on the field, but he already seems destined for the booth and TV once he’s walked off it.

Mendoza has heart and smarts. I will take that all day, every day. Have there been guys with better tools in the toolbox? Absolutely, but at the end of the day it means nothing. He is destined for greatness, both on and off the field.

Spot on. His Cal tape is really telling on how good of a prospect he is and how much he’s grown with Indiana. When he played in Cal he had to do a lot of the hero ball QB stuff that the media love.
