I could definitely see them taking a te in the late rounds for that exact reason. Mayer is gone next year and Thomas will be alsochucker wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:30 am Thomas is meh, but he's a role player that you don't mind having on the roster as long as he's not on the field a ton. He's not making things easier for you in 12 personnel because nobody thinks he's a threat as a receiver. I would be pretty happy if we drafted Riley Novakowski in the 6th round and got a fresh start with him on a rookie deal. He might not be a key guy in 2026, but would make it easy to let Mayer walk next offseason and still have some continuity in 2027.

Yeah definitely going to need another te or two next year. That's another reason why I'm not a fan of trading up this year. This team has so many holes and depth issues that you need every pick you can getchucker wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:30 am Thomas is meh, but he's a role player that you don't mind having on the roster as long as he's not on the field a ton. Plus we have several players that are going to be counted on, on 1 yr deals

...I have a feeling that Mayer would be viewed far more positively had he not lost a season dealing with whatever he had going on in his personal life, and then dealing with that abortion that was our coaching staff last year. if I remember correctly, if he wasn't rated the best tight end coming out the year we took with our 2nd, he was neck and neck with the other. ....and with his stilling being a 'cheap' option, and with good hands and his being a large body blocker. I could see him making a real leap this season with what I envision as our new offense.

Idk, he doesn’t do anything special on the field. He just looks very average out there. I do think he'll be more involved under Kubiak but whether that amounts to anything remains to be seen.WNYRAIDER wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 1:35 pm ...I have a feeling that Mayer would be viewed far more positively had he not lost a season dealing with whatever he had going on in his personal life, and then dealing with that abortion that was our coaching staff last year. if I remember correctly, if he wasn't rated the best tight end coming out the year we took with our 2nd, he was neck and neck with the other. ....and with his stilling being a 'cheap' option, and with good hands and his being a large body blocker. If we win the Super Bowl, this is the move that we will all look back on and remember as the start of the journey

The Raiders have two more TEs on the roster: Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. and Carter Runyon. So they have five right now.
