You fools down on Kirk Cousins. Continuing to make yourselves look so foolish.
Kirk Cousins will be the Raiders quarterback for the entire year, NO MATTER WHAT. Get used to the idea because it's going to happen.
Only reasons that Kirk won't start the entire season is if he gets hurt or if by some alternate reality he doesn't play well, which isn't going to happen because of him, will be because the rest of the offense/team still sucks, which I don't feel will happen, not with what Kubiak and Spytek have already started and with the coaching staff that's been assembled by Kubiak. Dennison as the Offensive Line coach are you shitting me!! If him on the coaching staff doesn't get you excited you don't know shit about football and should clam up.
So get used to it fellas, Kirk Cousins will be the Raiders QB day 1 through the entire season. I know you all are wondering, "why the hell should I take his word for it?" You don't have to take my word, but you have to take Tom Brady's word for it, unless you haven't been listening to anything Brady has been saying for years about having rookie quarterbacks sit behind veterans. Brady behind Bledsoe, Rogers behind Farve, Mahomes behind Smith, etc., etc., etc.,
Do you all get it now?!
Myself I like having Kirk Cousins as the Raiders starting qb this year. Dudes a pro. Got a positive attitude. Pro Bowls made, good stats mostly over the years, hell he helped the Falcons win their last 4 games last year and almost made the playoffs after the team started out poorly.
and if Kubiak, Spy and Tom Brady wanted and went out and got Cousins that's good enough for me

The only way Cousins starts the full season is if he's playing great and the Raiders are atop the division. I think both are highly unlikely. He has, effectively, a one year contract. The Raiders will want a legitimate look at their #1 pick. There's no way they want to go to the 2027 offseason with a starting QB who hasn't played. They'll have to think Cousins can take them deep in the playoffs to let Mendoza start the full year.
Worrying about Cousins starting the whole year isn't going to keep me up at night.

Cousins just squashed any doubts that he would be a mentor for Mendoza or concerns he would create some kind of QB controversy..

“Yeah, Tom’s been great," Cousins said on “Good Morning Football.” "I do a lot of homework before I move my family somewhere, so I had a lot of conversations with people in the Raiders organization, and one of those was with Tom. I texted him, called him, and he actually FaceTimed me while I was at baseball practice. I stepped away and talked with him for a minute, just to get on the same page, understand the vision of the organization, and see what he saw ahead and whether I’d be a good fit.
“I got off the call, and I called my wife. I said, ‘That was a really life-giving call with Tom.' He gets it. He’s been where I’ve been, and then some. He understands what it needs to look like, and I felt really like a shot in the arm after talking to him, and I felt like that was a big nudge for me to come to Vegas.”

I don't see Cousins falling on his face like Matt Flynn and Matt Schuab did but unless he plays the Raiders into meaningful December football, I think Mendoza will eventually supplant him in the lineup.

Im not going to be suprised if it's a red shirt year for Mendoza. He has alot to learn.Attyla wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2026 10:40 am With Cousins on the team, it is not a question of when will we see Mendoza on the field but if we will see Cousins ever on the field.

There will be some disappointed people opening day if FM does not start.
Some will not be disappointed because who's starting is not a big deal to them one way or the other.
And some will be beside themselves because FM did not start and their inflated egos took a hit.

I doubt he sits the whole year but agree that he has stuff to learn. First and foremost is taking snaps under centerKillerRaider30 wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2026 10:41 pm Im not going to be suprised if it's a red shirt year for Mendoza. He has alot to learn.

When, not if Cousins falters, there will be a lot of pressure to get Mendoza in. The fans will wanna open their new present and rightfully so after literally decades of losing.
And it will be a combination of reasons why he falters, probably not all on him. The reason why won’t matter. It’s hard enough for the top QBs in the league to string together wins, even on teams much better than ours. Cousins was brought in for a specific reason, to mentor Mendoza. We’re most likely taking some lumps this coming year no matter what but after an initial introduction to the league from the sidelines, Mendoza will be inserted.

I think he'll get used to taking more snaps under center once he gets even more opportunities in practice/pre-season. Last year Jeanty and the Raiders experimented with his pre-snap stance too.Hellbound wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 4:00 am I doubt he sits the whole year but agree that he has stuff to learn. I'm sure they'll figure it out.

I believe that when FM does start, it will have more to do with when management feels he is ready to do so, and not so much on Cousins performance.Viper wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 4:42 am When, not if Cousins falters, there will be a lot of pressure to get Mendoza in. I’ll be disappointed bordering on suicidal if Mendo doesn’t win the Super Bowl by week 4.
