“ Burford's role as a starter has diminished, primarily serving as a rotational player and being inserted back into the starting lineup for nine games in 2025, mainly due to injury attrition along the Niners offensive line. Putting it bluntly, San Francisco will have little interest in re-signing Burford.Feb 14, 2026”

Camp body and depth?

Burford is a 6'4" 300 pound guard. Burford was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round, 134th overall, of the 2022 NFL draft. As a rookie, he appeared in and started 16 games. On September 20, 2025, Burford was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury suffered in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints. On November 1, Burford was activated from injured reserve ahead of the team's Week 9 game against the New York Giants. He had 458 snaps last season, committing only 2 penalties and giving up 2 sacks. PFF rates him highly in pass blocking and so-so in run blocking. He visited with the Chargers yesterday.

Crappa is into his 30s while Buford is only 25 but yeah…..he doesn’t stand out at this point

Cappa was literally the worst rated guard the year prior to his signing in LV. I don't see how you connect this to Cappa vibes

I get that. I was more so referring to everyone knew Cappa was one of the worst linemen in the league and we still signed him. Buford is not even close to being good.

We are not where they are at. Them leaving table scraps for a team on the rebuild is something we should consider given the cupboard

Decent depth/competition. Doesn't rule out drafting an interior lineman at all. Could make the team, could be cut. Not getting worked up either way. At some point a signing like this will be purely for depth, unfortunately we aren't there yet

Also he's a guy who's been with the Niners his whole career, so he'll be very familiar with the blocking scheme and might even be able to help some young teammates get up to speed.

Yep. And he has experience at tackle too. If Meredith signs, we could have competent depth along the oline, especially if we draft an olineman

Has experience at both right and left gaurd so at the very least he push JPJ and Meredith for a starting position.

If hes on a one year deal it'll push him.

If he's an upgrade at backup its a win.

He has lateral quickness and played with Kubiak in 2023 so there's familiarity.

Usually one gaurd is on an island so having Linderbaum next to them to help is a plus and was the best gaurd left in fa.

So we shall see.
