now we need to redo his contract and give him more guaranteed money and lower his base salary down big...team still has holes to fill before the draft and after the draft

I think Maxx probably looked at the way Spy has handled the off-season so far, esp free agency, and he's decided that it's maybe not the same old shit show that he's used to. There was never a problem with his feelings about ownership, or living in Vegas, and he can see a different otcome for himself in the silver and black. Happy that we get an elite edge guy to add to our new look.

We may or may not be done with this saga.

$30 million doesn't mean he needs to play every snap. Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons get paid way more money and are more in the 75-80% range.

We really didn't do much for the offense. While Center is a massive addition, Nailor may be good, mediocre or not very efficient, who knows. And that's all we did. (Assuming of course we also get Mendoza which is a huge get).

But when it comes to how much supporting cast have we given Mendoza, really Linderbaum is the only significant thing. But considering how much resources we've thrown at the defense due the the surprise of retaining Maxx. I fully expect our draft to be heavily invested in the offensive side of the ball. Barring a NT or S pick in the mid rounds.

I fully think we were about to spend our remaining free agency money on offense and this threw a wrench in it.

We're gonna draft another WR and a complimentary RB is my thinking. Draft an early RT and we're good.

Maxx had damn near 200 more snaps played than Myles and that's with him sitting the last two games, and didn't even come close to sniffing the same level of production. He 100% needs to reduce his snap count.

We got our center, committed to JPJ at guard, Miller is healthy, and we have no idea what the other linemen look like because of the abomination of the last coaching staff. They have Jeanty, Bowers, Bech, Mayer, and we will def get a WR in the draft. And Mendoza. It's obvious that they are going to go heavy on O in the draft.

Attyla wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 6:58 am I think they had buyers remorse but when Hendrickson did not move on day one, they went to work on his agent and made the deal while waiting for the Maxx physical. Once the physical came back with a flag or two, they were able to cut bait. I do not think they went into the Maxx deal with the intention of screwing us. I think they realized they could get a similar guy for less and keep their picks. Dirty? Sure. Within the CBA? Yes. Can the next CBA address this? I for the life of me do not know how you could keep this from happening again. We agreed to a deal with a player and backed out once the physical was done. Was ours legit? Well, same player ended up signing with another team. They are medical opinions. And opinions can vary.
The one thing that could be done is have trades processed immediately and not wait for the new league year. Teams could go through the "legal tampering" making deals. etc. with full knowledge of what their roster has.

We don't need to restructure maxx's contract for more cap space unless we have something specific that we really want to spend the money on. And we don't need to add any guarantees right now. As of tomorrow, both 2026 and 2027 are fully guaranteed.

...the biggest thing we did for the offense already is flushed the trds that were chip, and the Carroll's, and brought in kk and our new o line coach, followed by our center, and while I know we can't quite be finished there, we had some weapons we will all be reminded we had already, and I do think that with the purpose they showed in going after the the Minny wr, and after seeing that twe weren't alone in that pursuit, I think we are only a few more reinforcements on that side of the ball to have a force in the making. ...I think our kid running back is also overlooked somewhat after that abortion that was last year, but I expect that to change in a big way too, and be a big factor in really changing the completion of our offense moving forward. ...a lot of squandered resources last year, and fortifying the center position and a few more, and some depth, and that unit can be a force and make kk look brilliant.

It still requires the physical. Players contracts end at the end of the league year so there is a conflict of interest if a player goes for a physical with a new team while under contract with an old team.

I love the Nailor signing. He gets open and has good hands. Gonna be a lot of 2 TE sets and Mayer is gonna be utilized as he should be. Bowers is phenomenal. Thornton and Bech have plenty of talent. They invested picks on guys and I believe they're going to utilize that already drafted talent. Bech, Thornton, Rogers, Grant. Overlook them if you want but I guarantee the Raiders aren't. This team is going to run the rock. They need IMO a guy capable of playing RT and another back to go with Jeanty. Not a third down back, not a few touches per game back. Another legit RB. The term "one is none" comes to mind. Cannot have just one legit back when you wanna seriously run the ball

2 TE sets all day and force the defense to choose how they want to get beat. Add to this Jeanty could be poised for a monster season.

Spytek sunk the majority of last offseason's resources on offense, so it only makes sense that we would give the defense some TLC this year. We weren't going to throw the baby out with the bathwater just because the coaching sucked last year. We still need to see what we have in Grant, Bech, Rogers, and Thornton, and well Bowers/Jeanty are young studs on rookie deals. Too much talent for them all to suck, I'm excited to see them play for a legitimate playcaller.
