Kind of reminds me of when Kiffin fired Rob Ryan only for Al to intervene and unfire him. Then Ryan tells the press how much he and Kiffin need each other.

It's by no means the end of the world provided as you say Maxx stays a company guy.

And I'd rather have that 14th pick to get more oline help so Mendoza doesn't get killed and Jeanty doesn't get hit as soon as he touches the ball. Can't be a play action run based team with a shit o-line. But oh well, not gonna happen.Viper wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:35 am It’s not as bad as it seems actually. If Maxx has his head right, which I don’t doubt he will, we basically got a top DE in the league on a pretty cheap contract that other teams would jump at if they only had to pay and not give up draft picks to do it.
If Maxx was on another team and they let him hit FA, we picked him up on the deal that’s already in place, it’s an A plus all day, every day.

The team Maxx is coming back to is a different team that he was leaving. He might want to stay seeing the changes.

I totally get that but I was just trying to put a positive spin on it. Glad we have the picks we do, just have to nail the next couple of drafts.NewEraX25 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:39 am And I'd rather have that 14th pick to get more oline help so Mendoza doesn't get killed and Jeanty doesn't get hit as soon as he touches the ball. raiders need to have a sit down with max... if max is ok staying then we need to lower his base and we could do that by redoing his deal with more guaranteed money...max in teh 3/4 would be awesome "just saying" and the raiders after a reworded deal would still have a lot of money to make more moves before the draft happens

It sucks not getting those picks and bypassing further fixing the OL (which we were more than likely going to do with the Ravens picks). I also think we would have not signed Paye. I'm actually GLAD that we are going through with all our signings. It would have been a bad look for us if we did not.

things happen for a reason, most of us never wanted max dealt but 2 1's kind of made sense so we were ok with the trade but with the additions so far and moving to a 3/4 we were gonna have to draft a edge anyway ,so keeping an all pro at the position i have no problem with

It just stings a lot more when there are so many holes to fill.Viper wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:41 am I totally get that but I was just trying to put a positive spin on it. Glad we have the picks we do, just have to nail the next couple of drafts.

Jeevo-you ok now? lol
Adding an all pro instead of pick 14 I guess…
We can still work on the OL easily

Guys…
We failed UP.
divine intervention is real imo. He wasn’t supposed to leave. Any further actions from here will be forced.
Keep maxx and go into next season with a far better defense
Sit down like men, hash the petty shit out. Play some football.
The only holes in the defense right now is SS and NT. I think we can bounce back really quickly if we get the offense together through the draft.

With Maxx back, not sure about our caps space, but since we wont get Vega in the draft, I'd love to grab a good guard in free agency now.

agree 100%, our biggest needs now are wr1,nt/dt and safety...the draft can fill a lot of this for us and maybe sign a few more on reasonable deals after we rework madmax's dealNoClapsPlease wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:49 am Guys…

The dude wanted out, what makes you think he wants to restructure his contract?mstrbass2000 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:55 am agree 100%, our biggest needs now are wr1,nt/dt and safety...the draft can fill a lot of this for us and maybe sign a few more on reasonable deals after we rework madmax's deal

Attyla wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:21 am The happy wife happy life does matter. But ultimately it is business and that sometimes means change. Hey, he would be great with the changes, he would thrive in a 3-4 base set and we added pieces that increase our ability to defend the field.
Time will tell but we are having to change some plans that were in play and that is just how it goes.
....yeah, I guess it is more just accepting that the best, and for that matter, any acceptable deal with others for Maxx is a ship that may well have sailed for now, and especially after a few days of interested teams thinking that it was no longer an option, and having redirected their focus, and cap space, to the last few days of free agency.
...I have to believe that it is more likely he stays, and based on stuff like the happy wife factor hopefully being a sign that we can still have a happy Maxx as part of the solution moving forward.
