If he actually failed a physical of course not, but I have never liked the guy, have always thought he was overrated, and one day his unwillingness to take a f[raiders_icon]cking play off is going to bite us. I would love to see his production if he took 200-250 snaps off a season which would put him in line with most other elite DE's for snap counts. I think a lot of people would notice how ineffective he actually is when rushing the passer.
Myles had 23 sacks off 868 snaps, played all 17 games. Maxx had 10 sacks off 935 snaps and sat two games. Myles also had 19 more QB hits in that same window. So yes, it's nice that he is in the top tier as far as overall numbers go for his career, but he has needed significantly more burn to get those numbers. To me that's an important factor in how effective he is. And yes I get it, he is double teamed, but not more than Myles, Bosa, Watt, and the other truly elite DE's. The difference is, they are actually built like DE's and win against those double teams.

I was obviously disappointed last night when I got the news but decided that posting my feelings at that time was not a smart move...gonna wait a while till we have more info and the dust settles a bit.NewEraX25 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 5:01 am I'm good but still happily sitting in the very front of the f[raiders_icon]ck Maxx bus. Can't wait to see what kind of temper tantrums we get when the team finally decides to limit his snaps.

Wow, I didn't see this news until this morning. f[raiders_icon]ck the Ravens. If someone else steps up with a comparable offer, that's fine, but for now you just plan for Maxx on the field. With Maxx leaving and all our signings it looked like our D had enough to compete other than that we wouldn't be able to rush the passer. If Maxx stays then it's game on.
He'll play his ass off if he stays. That's why you don't have to lower your price. And the idea that we should negotiate a different deal with the Ravens?!?!? f[raiders_icon]ck that, f[raiders_icon]ck the Ravens. The only different deal I would want would be them giving us the two firsts plus another pick. They f[raiders_icon]cked themselves over in a huge way IMO, let them suffer for it.

The Ravens took a beating in the FA market and lost a ton of players. That is exactly what this is. They needed their draft capital. f[raiders_icon]ck them.

So to be clear, you don't like his work ethic because he might get injured at the wrong time. And you compare his game to the best in the business to say he is overrated? And then you compare him to a couple others who are the best in the business. And then you trash his "build" and all this to say he is overrated. OK, if your standard is like the three best, no he does not measure up. But he is also elite against the run, those guys, not so much.NewEraX25 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 5:50 am If he actually failed a physical of course not, but I have never liked the guy, have always thought he was overrated, and one day his unwillingness to take a f[raiders_icon]cking play off is going to bite us. I think we have a standards issue. Not a Maxx issue. No, he does not get sacks at the level when measured against the best of the best. OK, that does not equate to overrated. So, he wants to be out there. If his coach keeps him out there, is that a Maxx issue or a coach issue. I get it that you all think he makes coaches do what he wants them to do. But is that a Maxx issue or a coach issue? If a coach can be pushed around, that is not on the player. That is a coach spine issue. All the coach needs to do is sit him down and limit his play some.
Bottom line is, players are under contract and they do what they are taught to do. They get rotated in and out and they do not have any literal say in that. That is the structure the CBA puts in place. They are not employees, they are contractors.
Whew, we have a lot of issues, coaches who get told what to do by contractors. We measure him up against the best of the best and when he comes up short he is overrated. He talks on his podcast and then he doesn't talk. We are so f[raiders_icon]cked.

Teams need to freeze out the Ravens during the draft and beyond.

One of the reasons I thought Maxx wouldn't get traded near the beginning of FA was that he wouldn't be that far along in his recovery for teams to evaluate it effectively. The interest in teams paying big compensation surprised me. Now the Ravens back out and it changes the market for other teams. The way to get the best value from him is for him to continue his recovery with the Raiders and maybe you trade him at the trade deadline, or maybe you just keep him all season and maybe win some games instead of a pure Mendoza development year.

Situation summary:
Ravens back out of trade for player who had season ending surgery, so they can sign a player in FA who had season ending surgery.
