Then why not trade up into the top 7? Texans did the same when they took Stroud and traded up to 3 grab Will Anderson.rich72 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:53 am Looking at the player grades it seems like after the top rated 7 players, the next 40 or so are very close in rating. Thats why I want to trade down.
Quality over quantity, esp early on.

I think we can get a really good option at guard at pick 14 who can start day one.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:55 am Then why not trade up into the top 7? Texans did the same when they took Stroud and traded up to grab Will Anderson.

If we can't land Linderbaum, do we draft a center? Jake Slaughter maybe. If he can't start at center right away maybe move him to guard with JPJ at center. Assuming we can get Ioane at 14.

If other teams view the "next 40" as being really close in potential NFL impact then trading down won't get the returns you might expect - if in fact a trade down option is even available at a given spot.

The only guard worth considering at 14 is Ioane.Attyla wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:57 am I think we can get a really good option at guard at pick 14 who can start day one.
Tackle? Yes. Plenty of them worth taking at 14.

with a line we are all in agreement needs rebuilding,. and with the extent of that rebuilding unknown, to some extent, in part due to the health of guys like jpj, who we rolled the dice on and so far, appeared to have lost on, and with the bumbling Pete's kid and the form er regime having given us very little insight in to the potential assets we have there, I would say we have plenty of questions when looking in from the outside, and who knows what the new powers that be see, or not, with that group.
...and with our lt kolten seeming to not be able to last half a season without having a seasonal ending, and/or a season performance degrading injury, there are a hell of a lot more questions than answers.
...as much as I would like to be glass half full on the o line, in some cases, such as the health of kolten and jpj, would have to be ready for a plan b, and with many others, you either have significant questions needing to be answered, or need to plan accordingly. ...this unit could either be a few players away, some of which we may already have, or potentially need far more investment.

I get what you’re saying but every player needs to continue to develop and improve each and every year. Means different things no doubt but just saying.raider_kin wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:24 am I don't really disagree with your take but the word develop doesn't belong in discussions of a pick at 14 overall.

It’s definitely something to consider but the question is, is there a Will Anderson prospect worth trading up for? As well as are we willing to give up that extra pick next year to do so? Remember that trade has a cost too.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:55 am Then why not trade up into the top 7? Texans did the same when they took Stroud and traded up to 3 grab Will Anderson.

Definitely not an ideal fit in a ZBS and yes, it gives me some pause. But, to me, he's the best O lineman in the draft.WNYRAIDER wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 10:01 am ...what is your take on him at 14 and the questions some have, scheme wise?

I personally would absolutely trade up for Reese, Styles or Bailey.TrueFan420 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 10:05 am It’s definitely something to consider but the question is, is there a Will Anderson prospect worth trading up for? Proctor is an option if Ioane is gone. Proctor has a couple advantages, he can play both guard and tackle, is a big road grader kind of guy and run blocks extremely well and is a smart player.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:58 am The only guard worth considering at 14 is Ioane.

Every pick in the draft even Mendoza has things they meed to develop so it does belong in the discussion.raider_kin wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:24 am I don't really disagree with your take but the word develop doesn't belong in discussions of a pick at 14 overall.
The kid has some pass rush skill but he does need to develop a few more moves, kid is an elite anchor & elite against the run but like all draft picks has things to learn at the next level

I like Proctor. Versatility is definitely a plus.Attyla wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 10:06 am Proctor is an option if Ioane is gone. Proctor has a couple advantages, he can play both guard and tackle, is a big road grader kind of guy and run blocks extremely well and is a smart player.
