The Autumn wind....
is a silent fart in a hurricane.
Leaving nothing but a shit stain
wherever they flame
Pillage and plunder how they forgot
Raiders are back.......Oh how they are not
History lives on for those clutching straws
For the rest of us, we see the ownership flaws
To your last breath yell out..... Raider till I die
Then I shall wish you good luck and goodbye

I know most of us here are ......... old/er...lol. The new coach and direction had me reminiscing of days gone. I found this.......... "the most feared defense in the NFL" Great memories. Let's hope we get to see this again.

Watched it. Yes, those were the days. It was painful how many times we could not get over the hump but on the other hand, we could always be sure we would be in the hunt for a championship. The Oakland Raiders will live forever in the lores of pro sports.

My parents used to give me a VHS tape for Xmas every year, called something like "NFL's Greatest Hits", or 'Crunch Time.' I used to love those videos but seeing those hits now is kind of disturbing. I miss the Raiders being great, not sure I miss crown of helmet into face mask at full throttle.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 8:55 am Watched it. Yes, those were the days. My parents bought me the same VHS tape. I can recite the Howie Long segment verbatim. Howie Time, lol.raider_kin wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 10:32 am My parents used to give me a VHS tape for Xmas every year, called something like "NFL's Greatest Hits", or 'Crunch Time.' I totally get it. No matter how much I loved the Raiders back then I was always uncomfortable with how violent the defensive backfield, especially could be. One thing the video got wrong is it says that Tatum’s hit on Stanley was in a regular season game. It was not. It was a preseason game and really unnecessary. That marked the beginning of the crackdown on hits that were deemed unnecessary and avoidable in the NFL.raider_kin wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 10:32 am My parents used to give me a VHS tape for Xmas every year, called something like "NFL's Greatest Hits", or 'Crunch Time.' George Atkinson close lining Lynn Swann was a bit over the top but so was Mel Blount picking up Cliff Branch and pile driving him head first. Different era to be sure.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 7:51 pm I totally get it. One thing I like about that video is the highlighting of Ted Hendricks and Lester Hayes. Even accounting for the stick “em, Hayes was simply incredible at times. I will tack that one up to Ron Wolf. The Mad Stork may have been Al Davis‘s best trade ever. Finally, I can never get enough of watching Phil Villapiano interviews.

We had some players with great nicknames. But we never had someone nicknamed "the undertaker".

That could have easily been Jack Tatum's nickname.
