Klint Kubiak - Officially Head Coach
Figured it is best to start a new official thread around Kubiak being our HC as the other one was built up so much around the search. His introduction presser is at 11 PST today.

ESPN’s Field Yates believes Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza is “ideal” for Klint Kubiak’s offensive system.
Mendoza is all but certain to land with the Raiders, who have the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. After displaying “elite accuracy and overall arm talent to throw to all levels of the field” during his final season at Indiana — leading the Hoosiers to the team’s first national title — Mendoza should be a good fir for Kubiak, fresh off turning Sam Darnold into a Super Bowl winning quarterback. “Mendoza brings a strong frame and in-pocket mobility with enough creativity to handle duress out of structure,” Yates said. “And his quick-processing skills point to a successful starting NFL QB.” Even if Mendoza struggles as a rookie, he will be a major upgrade for Brock Bowers and the rest of the Vegas pass catchers.

This may also have meaning in the bigger picture that Davis trusts and has faith in Spytek. Something that didn't exist with the past GMs.Goodtimes333 wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 12:12 am Say what you want about Mark Davis, good bad or meh.. he Loves the Raiders & he's not just some nerd billionaire who invested in a team as yet another money making asset. It actually matters to him at his core. He's made mistakes & I think he's learned from them. Evidence of that is allowing Spytek to do his job in this process of reset in finding the HC. Love that he let some legends sit up there with GM & HC without spotlight on him as the owner. Good on ya Mark

To an extent, I see it more of a fan issue now keeping that sore open for everything it's worth.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 8:21 am People are going to wonder. He has brought this upon himself.
As a poster above stated, he reads this and with that he's adjusted.
But to me it's a lot of weird ole man drama.

We've seen (not just sports) how journalism often uses more focused topic forums to see what they are discussing and jumping on that train, its a Cliff Notes way to sounding educated. So that can become a group think shitstorm.Corleone wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 8:48 am and pretty much every NFL Media person has reported he wants out, that's another issue that's kept it going.

Okay, so apparently I'm way behind on this. More great "journalism". Wow, just wow.

You can 1/2 ass your job and sound in the know by doing this.
AI articles are huge now to and it's all that.
I was reading a list recently of how AI gets information and Reddit posts was by far the #1 source.

No. Markie's current hard on is Tom Brady and Spytek is Brady's friend and selection of GM that markie said ok on. If you listen to some of the questions bowlcut answered he says Brady's name before Spytek's in the credit for the HC hiring. MD is just doing exactly what he did when his hard on was for Gruden.RickRyb wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 8:29 am This may also have meaning in the bigger picture that Davis trusts and has faith in Spytek. We will see if Brady's choice of Spytek pans out or not. I will never more get up or down just complete indifference until I see results on the field. That is all that counts. Everything else including threads like these is meaningless. Now its on to putting together a coaching staff, hopefully being the last HC hired doesn't leave him with lesser choices. Then on to player evaluation, FA then the draft. This is what I will be watching and not making any opinions about anything. All that matters is how the Raiders play on the field.

Brady and Spytek played one year together with Spytek being a fringe member of the team. They did not chummy up to each other in school and did not stay in touch. He only connected with the guy when he went to the Bucs. Spytek at that time was widely considered a sharp football mind and an up and coming GM level exec. That is why they got friendly, over football. When it was time to get our new GM he was a hot candidate. That is the history of Spytek and Brady. Now, is Davis enamored with Brady? Yes, that is obvious. Davis does have a history of being a player groupie. He did it back in the day and even recently.ELCAraiderfan wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:07 am No. Markie's current hard on is Tom Brady and Spytek is Brady's friend and selection of GM that markie said ok on. That said, is this thread meaningless? If that is your view, then yes. Is it to others? Probably not. Klint just lead an offense to a title. There is a strong group of fans who have been wanting exactly what just transpired. A chance at a "young offensive minded coach" and the chance at a high level rookie QB. There is reason to believe that as long as Davis does not insert himself into the mix that we are on a path that could mirror Chicago. Will it happen? That depends on if you think Mendoza is an elite QB at the next level. He certainly looked the part at Indiana after years of not so great football at Cal.
I will maintain that getting Kubiak is the ace up our sleeve. His personnel schemes for the Seahawks was pretty spot on. He got a lot out of Darnold and their run game and he scored points. It may take a few to get the right guys in the door but getting Kubiak immediately gets us some credibility among free agents this year.

By appearances, Davis has stepped back. People learn by mistakes and we’ve all done our share. It’s still early in the process of a rebuild but I look at how they conducted their HC search and find how they went about it solid. If Spy can get a good haul in the draft over the next couple of years, don’t overspend on FA and fill the coaching vacancies around Kubiak with solid coaches, the team will be finally headed in the right direction. Gotta give it time because it’s not happening right away, but we have solid guys in Kubiak, Spy and hopefully Mendoza.ELCAraiderfan wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 12:07 am No. Markie's current hard on is Tom Brady and Spytek is Brady's friend and selection of GM that markie said ok on. Seems we’ve been mixing our KoolAid with salt instead of sugar over the years. Maybe we got it right this time.

Mixing our KoolAid with salt is about the best way to describe being a Raider fan for a long time! I've seen that too on a number of topics. The paper thin level of discourse on Reddit shows that certain types of AI just aren't ready for intangible analyses.SkullCrusher wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 11:27 am I was reading a list recently of how AI gets information and Reddit posts was by far the #1 source.
