From the sideline to far hash is 33 yards.Arsenal Raider wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 3:21 pm That ball flew 57 yards in the air with no margin for error. If you hang that up even a little bit the safety is snatching it.
40 yards vertical from marker to marker, 40 yards across the field from left hash to sideline.
40^2 + 40^2 = 3200
√3200 ≈ 56.5 yards
Sick throw
So 40^2 + 33^2 = 2689 = 51.8^2
So 51.8 yards.
Still a hell of a throw.

Good point. I double checked and it is 33.33... yards to the far hash, but I was also conservative with the vertical measurement.Raider_Dave wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 8:53 pm From the sideline to far hash is 33 yards.

To split hairs, it'd be ≈42 yards and ≈33.33 yards.
42^2 + 33.33^2 = 2,875.11 = 53.62^2
53.6 yards
I owe you a beer

Mendoza will have a great resource in the building in Jimmy Plunkett.
Not so much as being Raiders but understanding and managing the expectations of being a Heisman Trophy winning QB taken with the first overall pick in the draft.
The shared hispanic heritage is nice coincidence but few people can understand what Mendoza is up against better than Plunkett.
The sentimental fan in me hopes the Raiders will issue Mendoza #16 but the kid needs to chart his own course with his own number.

I really want him to Chart his own course. Let this team create a new identity. Time to start making some GOOD new memories with this young team.Toast wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 1:26 pm Mendoza will have a great resource in the building in Jimmy Plunkett.

I'd love to see him wear #12, but I'm sure he'll end up with #15.Toast wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 1:26 pm Mendoza will have a great resource in the building in Jimmy Plunkett.

16 is an ugly number IMO

The Kubiak hire just confirms in my mind that the first overall pick in the draft is not for sale at any price. As I have said, tat coach from that tree does not take this job without Mendoza. He is not going to risk professional suicide.

I agree. The Stabler comparisons were not good for Todd Marinovich. Plunkett has a better head on his shoulders as does Mendoza.Oaktownonly wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 1:36 pm I really want him to Chart his own course. Let this team create a new identity. Lamonica had his own style, Stabler had his own style, as did Plunkett and Gannon. Onward and upward.

It's funny you say that because I have always disliked #15, even before Mahomes was a thing. Flores wore #15 and so did Hoss.Arsenal Raider wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:04 pm I'd love to see him wear #12, but I'm sure he'll end up with #15.

#12 has always been my favorite number, now I better change my passwords and ATM code, lol.

First time in forever I look forward to a Raiders game now. We'll (hopefully) have a promising QB for the future and an actual offensive-minded coach who utilizes his system to put his best players in the best position to excel. Instead of like Gruden or McDumbass, who repeatedly just said "go out and beat your guy", which doesn't work in today's game.
Now we just need a competent defensive coordinator.
