If the deal has pretty much been agreed upon why would he be meeting with the Cards again and what would be the need for another meeting with the Raiders tomorrow?

Same reason Ben Johnson met with us last year. Squeeze out a couple million more per year.raidersince63 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:26 am If the deal has pretty much been agreed upon why would he be meeting with the Cards again and what would be the need for another meeting with the Raiders tomorrow?

My memory could be a little off but pretty sure this is why: we interviewed KK during the Seahawks bye week. At that point we hadn’t satisfied the Rooney rule so an agreement would have been a violation. The next time we are allowed to speak to him is during this week, which is set for Saturday. In order to abide by league rules, we can unofficially agree this Saturday.raidersince63 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:26 am If the deal has pretty much been agreed upon why would he be meeting with the Cards again and what would be the need for another meeting with the Raiders tomorrow?

I believe the Cards are involved for optics.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 5):

Could be...but realistically, can you really see the Cards out-bidding us anyway?DanKD wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:31 am Same reason Ben Johnson met with us last year. Squeeze out a couple million more per year.
Or is it perhaps only creating the impression that Arizona is anywhere close to signing him?

Yeah, that makes sense, and I think DKD was essentially saying the same thing.Corleone wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:35 am My memory could be a little off but pretty sure this is why: we interviewed KK during the Seahawks bye week. I could be wrong but I think the only two candidates the Raiders must interview are the Rooney rule candidates, after that they can hire anyone they want, interview or no interview. You right that they must wait until after the superbowl to officially hire Kubiak.raidersince63 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:40 am Could be...but realistically, can you really see the Cards out-bidding us anyway?

I'm pretty sure The Raiders already have done what's required to satisfy the Rooney rule. They are free to sign whomever is available.Trainnvain wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 1:08 pm I could be wrong but I think the only two candidates the Raiders must interview are the Rooney rule candidates, after that they can hire anyone they want, interview or no interview. I think it's just the Cardinals doing their diligence and the agents making sure that there's leverage.raidersince63 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:40 am Could be...but realistically, can you really see the Cards out-bidding us anyway?

As to outbidding us, the Raiders have double the revenue and almost three times the operating income of the Cardinals according to Forbes (Vegas move really gave the franchise some financial muscle). And Mark isn't cheap. So I don't think so. Granted he will be paying a lot of ex coaches some serious coin, but I seriously doubt Michael Bidwill will blow him out of the water. And Arizona has a state income tax which Nevada doesn't.

Such an easy choice. Franchise QB vs no franchise QB. That's all that matters. Come on down Klint.

Jon Gruden signed a 10-year, $100 million contract to become the Las Vegas Raiders head coach in 2018
. The fully guaranteed deal ran through 2027, but he resigned in October 2021 following the release of controversial, offensive emails. Following his resignation, Gruden settled with the Raiders for an undisclosed sum regarding the remaining money
So thats off the books...

I truly hope they have an agreement with Kubiak because it's sounding like Evero will be the choice if not...

Yea man that's def what it looks like. I can't even remotely begin to think what our coordinators will look like under Evero. It would just be an all around disaster.riseNraid09 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 2:41 pm I truly hope they have an agreement with Kubiak because it's sounding like Evero will be the choice if not...
I personally believe the Raiders and Klint have an agreement in place.
