NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has presented another possible issue for the Raiders' head coach search.
He reports that candidates have been emerging from interviews confused about the Raiders' situation inside the actual building, especially as it pertains to minority owner Tom Brady.
“Las Vegas… you’ve got Tom Brady ostensibly running the football operation along with John Spytek. That’s directly a quote from owner Mark Davis. And yet, people come out of those interviews just going, ‘Who exactly is running the building?’” Pelissero said on the Rich Eisen Show.
“What exactly… what am I looking at here? Tom lives in Miami," Pelissero added. "How is he co-running the football operations from 2000 miles away? Again, and in a really tough division where you’re going up against Sean Payton, and Andy Reid and Jim Harbaugh.”
I mean, he does have a cell phone...
In all seriousness, it's fair to wonder about the operation in Las Vegas and Brady's presence with the team.
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Brady wasn't in the building "more than a handful of times this season," as Brady spent most of his time at home in Florida and fulfilling his FOX broadcasting duties.
In his absence, Russini noted that Brady's longtime trainer, business partner and Raiders wellness coordinator, Alex Guerrero, has been Brady's "eyes and ears."
Russini did add, however, that Brady "is involved every day, communicating with Guerrero, owner Mark Davis and GM John Spytek, coaches and players."
Even still, it's clear Brady's lack of a physical presence on a daily basis is important to candidates and it could end up thwarting the Raiders' ability to get the head coach they truly want.
Shocking

Only the Browns, Cardinals, and Raiders are left coach less. Heard nobody wants to or are afraid to coach those teams. Good luck with that!

Knowing the Raiders, they will probably still be coach less, even after the press conference.Summerall-Madden wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 10:45 pm Only the Browns, Cardinals, and Raiders are left coach less. Heard nobody wants to or are afraid to coach those teams. Good luck with that!

It doesn’t look good when almost every other team have already got there HC signed and getting ready for offseason…..hopefully the raiders are only holding back because they have their
on Kubiak and they really can’t do anything till after the Super Bowl…
Don’t like the news that Lombardi was fired to actually make room for Webb to become OC….Raiders should just signed him be HC now and get it over with…

That not true….Your actually getting paid the minimum of probably 5 million dollars (don’t know what the cheapest HC is making) and a lot OC and DC that would jump at that to coach a team in the NFL….Summerall-Madden wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 10:45 pm Only the Browns, Cardinals, and Raiders are left coach less. They better have more than just their eye on Kubiak. There needs to be some sort of agreement or else this is a full blown repeat disaster of last year. Actually worse since we have a rookie QB coming in.SuperRaider wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 3:01 am It doesn’t look good when almost every other team have already got there HC signed and getting ready for offseason…..hopefully the raiders are only holding back because they have theiron Kubiak and they really can’t do anything till after the Super Bowl…

I can see Kubiak having an interview for job and then changing his mind to stay with Seattle…but you might be right that their might be a verbal agreement between the raiders and Kubiak to coach the raiders but cannot say anything until after the Super Bowl….BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 3:07 am They better have more than just their eye on Kubiak. I’m sorry but a verbal agreement is worthless in this league. Completely worthless. It’s all about results.SuperRaider wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 3:12 am I can see Kubiak having an interview for job and then changing his mind to stay with Seattle…but you might be right that their might be a verbal agreement between the raiders and Kubiak to coach the raiders but cannot say anything until after the Super Bowl….
The rule is a bit silly imo. I agree that nothing should be announced but an agent an a GM can make a preliminary agreement with some penalty clauses for both parties.

Gruden chose the motherf[raiders_icon]cker over Brady. I doubt Tom thinks too highly of him now.

Yeah I agree the rules are stupid; the truth is maybe no team can hire a HC until after the Super Bowl played in which give Kubiak a fair chance at getting hired by a decent teamMarzan wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 3:22 am I’m sorry but a verbal agreement is worthless in this league.
