No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

I wanted badly for the Raiders to extend Stidham. Signing popgun arm, injury prone Jimmy G was a gut punchRaider_Dave wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 2:50 pm As Stidham gets ready to take over for Denver this weekend, I look back and wonder...
I and a number of others around here wanted to resign him and roll with him in 2023. Instead we went the Garoppolo, O'Connell, Minshew, Smith route.
Could Stidham have been any worse than what we saw the last 3 years?

As a gun owner, I never understood how in the absolute shit do you either "forget" you had your firearm in a bag or just idiotically try to get it through the scanners at the airportAttyla wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 6:13 am Ah to be rich and stupid

I was pretty high on Stidham’s possibility too but he has been in the league for 6 years, playing fur guys that apparently love him, and has never really been close to a starting job. Hasn’t thrown a game pass in over 700 days.

John Brodie, 17 year 49'er QB, dead at 90.
I always liked him.
EDIT (being how I am an avid duffer)
"After football, Brodie remained a top golfer. At 56 and playing in the 1991 Security Pacific Senior Classic at Rancho Park in Los Angeles, he beat Chi Chi Rodriguez and George Archer with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff."
I live in So Cal and have played Rancho Park many times. Great course.

...exactly, i've seen more from a few of our young receivers who were only played sparingly, than I have yet from Coleman, and I see just about every bills game over here wny.Jeevo wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 11:16 am I'd be aiming higher than Coleman, but yeah, you should be able to get him cheaply after the Bill's owner basically said he was no good. Would even take a 5th at this point.
....and I believe he is still dealing with maturity issues, so I just see what we would give up anything for a guy like that at this time.

Yeah I remember his commentator style, had a cool laid back way about him, much more refined then like a Merideth. I liked him quite a bit during that era, Gowdy was GOAT though, he had the juice to get a kid excited about the game, Gus Johnson's OG. Brodie also had an interesting golf career as commentator and player, I never saw him play in the NFL but old Niner fans always loved him.raider_kin wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:35 am John Brodie, 17 year 49'er QB, dead at 90.

I had an uncle who knew John Brodie a bit. He owned a bar in Mountain View, loved the 9ers, hated the Raiders. He was probably my favourite person ever, and he’s the reason I’m a Raiders fan.raider_kin wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:35 am John Brodie, 17 year 49'er QB, dead at 90.

My favorite Brodie moment was the pregame show for the Philly-Raiders Super Bowl, "There are only four men in the world faster than Cliff Branch . . . . . . . . . none of them play for Philadelphia."raider_kin wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:35 am John Brodie, 17 year 49'er QB, dead at 90.

I'd be willing to bet that they run it back with Rodgers next year too

Back in the day, you hardly ever heard Curt Gowdy's name without also hearing Al Derogotis' name.SkullCrusher wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:58 am Yeah I remember his commentator style, had a cool laid back way about him, much more refined then like a Merideth. The only comparable scenario would be Jeff Hostetler in 1990. Hostetler did start two regular season games in 1990 and the entire post season but both QB's NFL experience is comparable prior to the starters going down.Jeevo wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 7:30 am I was pretty high on Stidham’s possibility too but he has been in the league for 6 years, playing fur guys that apparently love him, and has never really been close to a starting job. Payton has his team well coached, they should be able to trade punches with New England if the defense can keep it close. If it turns into a boat race, forget it.
