He had 16 passes batter down. He like 5"11 per a talking head.Amish Cabal wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 8:15 am I agree. I never said to overlook QB position. I said who I think is the best of '26. To my eye, Chambliss is the best. You all disagree and that's fine.

There's been a lot of great posts. Great discussion. This is a great point that seems to be overlooked! Pete had his son Beavis making this Oline look worse than they are. Kolton is a very good left tackle, he gets rolled up on and misses most of the season. I may be crazy but I believe JPJ will be a hell of a player at one of the interior spots. Between Glaze, Rogers & Grant one other spot is likely in decent hands. Even if Glaze/Grant take a guard spot. I've never in my life heard of offensive players having to meetup after practice to discuss amongst themselves what to do because the staff is so incompetent. IMO, this line is not as bad off as it's been portrayed the last 5 months. Scheme & implementation is so f[raiders_icon]cking vitalOpoponax50 wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 8:59 am Due to Pete's kid running the O-line and running game, we don't know what we have in terms of talent/capability. Maybe some of those guys are good. They were having to get together and practice with each other because Brennan Caroll had them so thoroughly confused. We may actually have some good interior linemen who suffered from 4th rate coaching.
I'm no big fan of Chip Kelly but it's entirely possible that his scheme failed so spectacularly due to Brennan's incompetence. It didn't get any better when he got fired.
Thanks Pete for getting us the #1 pick, but at the same time f*** you for hiring your son so that now have to reevaluate the entire O-line.

It's is crazy when you think about it. As bad as the Raiders have been this century they've only been in position once before to pick first overall. This time there just happens to be a great qb prospect available who checks all the boxes and won the Heisman trophy and led his team to a championship. And some want the team not to take Mendoza in exchange for essentially fools gold.Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 6:16 am Raider fans: 2018-2024-"We need to invest a high pick on a QB this draft, we are tired of bringing in aged washed up vets"
Raider fans: Beginning of 2025-"This has to be the year we invest our first round pick on a QB"
Raider fans: Mendoza comes out of nowhere, wins the Heisman, wins the most games ever beating five highly ranked teams and the national championship-"We should trade the pick and draft an offensive lineman"

Let's not forget he was oline/run game coordinator. Ameer Abdullah & Sincere Mccormick were running through good holes to close out last year. They treated JPJ a notch above having the plague. They legit thought Cappa was a solid choice above anybody else to throw out there, even after he looked awful over and over. The rookies got hardly any chance until it was likely forced from higher up. One might think it was sabatoge it was so poorly handled

And yup, we're finally where we wanted to be. I'm surprised to see so many fans have the opinion that we should trade out. It's like, we've all collectively been dreaming of this for almost 2 decades. I get the opinions, they have logic. But considering that we've only ever heard fans talk about wishing to land a great QB prospect the last 10 years it feels like this opinion came out of the blue.

And with that first pick in 2007 what did we do? Took the concensus #1 QB.tatalalicious wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:32 am It's is crazy when you think about it. An extra 3 or 4 picks in the 1st and 2nd round is fools gold huh? I guess that depends on the GM. Gotta admit I'm not confident in Spytec/Brady and sure as hell not Bowlcut, but it does give us more shots, as well as owning the top 3 passer in the nation. (Mendoza #15)
At least Kiper agrees. LOL

Think he'll do that here? I don't. I think he'll earn a whole lotta sacks. Again, just my opinion.

Draft picks have no intrinsic value they're only as valuable as the players you select with them. I dont think the Raiders really have a choice here, if they dont take Mendoza and he goes on to have a successful career leading another team it will be a disaster.BotesBoats wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:36 am This is how I read it.

Chambliss also didn't start till week 3, so minus 2 games, still was top 3 in the nation passing. I know you're not impressed and that's fine.

Because one or two more wins is still pathetic but can really drop you down.tatalalicious wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:32 am It's is crazy when you think about it. It took nearly until the end for us to secure worst team for 2025.

All good. The facts are he started with Ole Miss in the offseason of 2025. After the starter's injury, he took over on game 3 and never looked back. Became the #3 passer in the nation with two fewer games. That displays a football IQ, being able to pick up and understand a playbook quickly, leadership ability, and by watching, he displays skills that no one else in this draft has. You're right, a small sample size is risky. It's a risk no matter who you take isn't it? It doesn't make someone my enemy for disagreeing, shit the only one who agrees with me on this is my girlfriend. LMAONoThanksSir wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:09 am You're welcome to your opinion, I'm just confused because you replied to me without addressing the criticism of your position. I wasn't really coming at it from a subjective lens, I actually posted previously I like Chambliss's talent but one year wonders are risky picks. I asked for any compelling reason for what you were suggesting but all you had to offer was, "My eye test analysis tells me I'm right." Which wasn't convincing, I like to corroborate my eyes with facts...so I guess I'm not going to see eye to eye with you.
