I will throw up in my mouth if we trade this pick. I am far from a Mendoza fan, but we have to take the shot. Jackson doesn't cut it (age and salary).

We're not trading the pick. The fans would storm Vegas.RI RAIDER wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 4:04 pm I will throw up in my mouth if we trade this pick. I am far from a Mendoza fan, but we have to take the shot. Jackson doesn't cut it (age and salary).
Just out of curiosity, why are you far from a Mendoza fan?

Lamar is very good, but 29 and injured this year, plus he is terrible in the postseason. I wouldn’t be super mad,but a little irritated.I want this kid and build our team.Attyla wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 3:13 pm Look I get it that not everyone is gonna want the guy. But trading for Jackson is not a solution. Trading for picks? I guess you could support that idea. But we have been begging for literally years for this chance. We deserve the chance to get our QB. How long have we been wanting the coach, the QB and the defense to compete. With the money we can spend, the 10 picks we have, we can make huge steps to get all three and add in some great line options as well. We have the TE and the RB and a DE as the core. We can flesh out a lot to fix us this year, we will not be contenders but we might, just might, be respectable if we hit on all of this.

I’d be done. Dude has faltered at every playoff opportunity he’s had. And it would just show that the Raiders with Doofus, refuse to be anything but failures.HesterLayes wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 4:31 pm Lamar is very good, but 29 and injured this year, plus he is terrible in the postseason. Chambliss is a taller, though leaner, more athletic, older Bryce Young. Plenty of that riding benches and just biding time until they’re let go.
I used to butt heads with “16 to 88” about QB mobility. I’d get starry-eyed at great combine numbers. I thought Anthony Richardson was going to be good for f[raiders_icon]ck sake. I’ve come around to recognizing that even Mahomes’ amount of scrambling has taken its toll on him. Daniels 2nd season, missed 10 games. Dart’s 1st year, 3 games to concussions. RG3 barely had a cup of coffee in the league due to running. The only reason Allen survives is because he’s built like a brick shithouse.
In other words, give me the pocket passer. Give me the guy who outthinks his opponent, and learned to outthink them because he’s a quarterback, not just an athelete. Give me Peyton, Brady, Brees. Shit, Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl with a noodle arm and HGH-injected neck. Brady, only the GOAT. Brees, lightning-fast decision making. What made them great was between the ears.
There’s also this, the typical career length for a “pocket passer” is 15 to 20 seasons. For a “mobile” QB, 10 to 14. I don’t know about you, but I feel like Raider Nation has suffered for a very very f[raiders_icon]cking long time. Let’s have ourselves a quarterback who’s a dyed-in-the-wool winner. Let’s have him for a decade-plus. Maybe even two. I think we deserve it.

He knows where he’ll be drafted, and by whom.

Yep, and I don't care if he goes to the combine or has a pro day. I'd rather he work in advance at being an NFL QB than waste energy prepping for combine or pro day drills. There are guys who will work to prep a QB for the NFL, like Jordan Palmer.

Someone out there has already booked his hand-stretching appointment.chucker wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 5:30 pm Yep, and I don't care if he goes to the combine or has a pro day. OMG the hand stretching. The racks these guys attach themselves to so they'll be taller. Weighing in one day, but not running and then running another day but not weighing. I hate the reactions to the combine.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 5:36 pm Someone out there has already booked his hand-stretching appointment.
