His pre and post snap reads are exceptional. Wait until he talks to Gruden in the pre draft stuff, that will be must watch. When he talked with Urban Meyer on that podcast he actually made him get excited, which almost never happens because he is rarely impressed with their guests.

It also can't be discounted he was only with Indiana one season. For a college qb his reads are great and he will get better with a consistent system. Contrast to Stroud who said he was still getting used to a new system after throwing 4 picks in a playoff game.
The guy is going to be good. We will see if he can be great

His numbers in the redzone are absolutely unreal. He scores, but he also does not ever turn it over in the redzone.Attyla wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 12:42 pm Red zone is off the charts as well. He get's that far downfield, he is all but certain to score.
Overall. throughout the season when the bright lights were on and he needed to make a play, he doesn't force anything or get too greedy like Caleb Williams and Carson Beck did that ended up costing them their respective games.

Slow and awkward. FTW. Seriously how many times are we all gonna watch that TD run? Here's a bunch of different versions. It's wild that it's a 4th and 5 and he runs into a wall after already getting the first down. The play was already a huge success but he says f[raiders_icon]ck it and keeps going through the body blows and risks more vicious hits for the TD.

Anthony Richardson had some great elite physical traits. What you look for in a #1 pick. Maybe we should trade our number one pick for him.heavyD wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 12:51 pm For every Joe Burrow who had scouts questioning his arm strength and average athleticism, there’s a wasteland of high physical trait QB’s with elite arm strength that were flat out busts. The traits Mendoza already has are some of the hardest to attain or teach.

Mendoza really is the anti Carr. Carr was actually fast and pretty athletic but he was a chicken shit. Mendoza is a bit awkward but runs with confidence an toughness and strength

Another year in college? He has played five years and is 23 years old and will be 24 at the start of next season. I love the kid though. Just don't like short QB's. A lot of Kyler Murray in his game. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not my cup of tea.Amish Cabal wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 1:38 pm He's got a mid-tier line vs SEC opponents. Doesn't get the chance to stay in the pocket a lot. He'd get the same situation in Vegas. But even with 4.45 speed he still buys time, keeps his eyes downfield and looks for receivers. He's not the run first type from what I've seen. He's accurate at every level, even on the run. Fast release, good arm. ...And he's 6'1".
He could use another year in college for the experience, but sit him a bit and he'd deliver. He's a pro to my eye and more than just "splash plays", but that's my opinion.

Look I get it that not everyone is gonna want the guy. But trading for Jackson is not a solution. Trading for picks? I guess you could support that idea. But we have been begging for literally years for this chance. We deserve the chance to get our QB. How long have we been wanting the coach, the QB and the defense to compete. With the money we can spend, the 10 picks we have, we can make huge steps to get all three and add in some great line options as well. We have the TE and the RB and a DE as the core. We can flesh out a lot to fix us this year, we will not be contenders but we might, just might, be respectable if we hit on all of this.
And I quote the bard when I say:

It really isn’t. Football is very simple at its core. Blocking and tackling generally win you games. Throwing the ball to the right guy at the right time generally win you games.NoClapsPlease wrote: Tue Jan 20, 2026 1:53 pm This is an oversimplification
The hashmarks alone makes everything different.
And you don’t see as much pattern matching in college as you would in the NFL
If it were this simple, teams wouldn’t draft bust QBs every single year.
What you’re missing is how elite it actually is to be able to see and process this and throw in less than 3 seconds. That part isn’t simple. That’s why so many qbs bust. Plus people thinking they will fix the unfixable. Teams drafting qbs is a lot like women thinking they can fix or change a man.
