I don't feel bad for them. They will get their QB next season when they have 3 FRPs.Marzan wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 2:04 pm Moore’s decision shows why the teams tank at a strategic level (not at player and coach level). The Jets either wait until 27 or reach for a QB. And there’s not superstar playmaker to ease the pain either.

Probably better for them anyway they can draft their qb with a new coach next year

Man, I want to be clear that I really really like Mendoza. But damn we better hope he is our guy and do everything possible for him to succeed bc if there's ever a year to get a QB, its 2027.

It is not without risk but Moore is betting on himself. And the ducks should not drop off much at all so his supporting cast will be capable of showcasing his developing skill set. And hopefully his RBs hold up next year unlike this one. But I will be watching the arch or Manning closely. He has three year left but I doubt he wants to wait that long to enter the draft.DanKD wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 2:38 pm Probably better for them anyway they can draft their qb with a new coach next year

I don’t think Moore is/was even in the same class of player as Mendoza. I’m over the “measurables” and “might be this” shit. Kids best games have been against his best opponents, has the size, the brain, and the arm talent. Take him and move forward. Every one of next years qbs could fall off a cliff next season. That said if the Jets give us their entire draft and 2 more 1s I’ll consider it lol.

At least we aren't the Jets. I think Moore went back due to the limited amount of college starts. It's been thrown out there that since 2016, 1st round QB's with less than 25 college starts have been putrid. Wise choice for longevity and not being a journeyman. Him and Manning will battle it out for the Top spot all 2026.

Moore could improve next year and make a Moore-Mendoza debate relevant. For now, he's just not there. I love that the Raiders' decision is easy but we're all still just hoping that Mendoza validates that with his NFL play. It's really nice to feel some unforced hope.

Every year it seems the notion “next years class is better”. Last year Mendoza wasn’t even mentioned. Most the guys thought highly of have been injured or didn’t play yo to par. We have a guy who played well (excellent even) that seems to have all the physical tools and the mental fortitude to be great.

Oh yeah, for the most part I agree. Most situations I’d agree 100% due to the reasons you stated. I’m just saying, I wouldn’t be shocked if this was one of those exceptions &, it’s the bigger reason for him staying. But, that’s only because of what I threw out there. That I heard someone say (some podcast/YT video/social media short) Moore really dislikes the Jets & does not want to go there. But I can’t confirm that report atm, lolAttyla wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:54 pm I can see a guy going back to avoid certain teams, but to go number 2 overall? I would say it would be more than that to not want number 2. I can imaging it has a lot to do with having another crack at the championship. Just a guess but knowing your going to get drafted that high up and have a new head coach with all that draft capital they have? It has to be more than the Jets in my humble opinion

I think the reason to go back is because he'd like a national championship and also because he wants to maximize his chance of true success in the NFL by getting more development in college before making the jump. NIL money may never make up for the money a player might lose, but it still provides a life changing amount of money that makes the risk of going back for a final year less of a blow if it doesn't work out. I don't think it's about avoiding a particular team, because the teams selecting at the top next year are more likely than not to be very unattractive destinations.

I wouldn't say that. I think it's more about just choosing the path that he thinks will make him the best player in the end.

Moore did the Jets a BIG favor. No temptation and enables them to wait till next year where there will be a ton of QB's.

So far, and this is paper-thin surface study, I’m liking the idea of Klubnik/Sellers 1st Rnd, Allar early 2nd or late 1st (if we trade back), and Leavitt/Mendoza later.

Good thing the Giants kilt the Cowboys, because the Raiders tried to be the fly in the ointment.
