Incidentally and for what it is worth, now there is no way Mendoza sticks. He is not risking getting the top spot in the draft with all that fire power still in school. And Simpson will be forced up to number 2 I think.

I think Chambliss from Ole Miss is going to be this years QB to skyrocket up the draft boards after the combine and personal workouts.

I got Mateer as that guy. He has had a chance to heal up the rest of the way and he could be one of the one's to throw at the combine although I would not if I were him. I would want to throw to my guys in my backyard.Southshield wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:06 pm I think Chambliss from Ole Miss is going to be this years QB to skyrocket up the draft boards after the combine and personal workouts.

If I were the Jets? With three number 1s in 2027 (theirs, Colts and Cowboys) I’d wait.
No because the class is “better” simply because they have more room to maneuver next year and are likely going to be picking in the top 10 anyways.

Probably a good call for Simpson to come out. Hes got to be a guaranteed top 5 pick now with so few options.

Yea even with that shit show he put up against Indiana and a fairly limited body of work, he did enough during the season to be a first rounder. I say that because QBs are elevated up the draft artificially. Simpson is the product of a perfect storm. He played intriguing football and other than Mendoza, nobody else did.DanKD wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:27 pm Probably a good call for Simpson to come out. I do agree with the notion that the jets could stand pat at QB one more year to get one of the guys next year. I might even trade one of the number one's they have this year for more next year if that were the plan.

I heard somewhere, can’t remember where, this person heard, Moore did not want to be drafted by the Jets. I wonder how much that affected his decision. I do think it’s better for him to go back another year but, if what this guy said is true, I have a feeling that was more of the deciding factor for him.
Hey, maybe Jets need to fire sale just a bit more now. What would be the going rate for G.Wilson? He’d be perfect for the Raiders. I wouldn’t give a first btw. Even tho he might be worth it.
In another thread I threw out, calling the Cards & asking about MH Jr. His value is def lower than his draft day. Lots lower. So just wondering what Wilson’s would be atm.
Actually, just remembered he got a new contract. Think it makes this likely a non starter due to dead cap hits.

I can see a guy going back to avoid certain teams, but to go number 2 overall? I would say it would be more than that to not want number 2. I can imaging it has a lot to do with having another crack at the championship. Just a guess but knowing your going to get drafted that high up and have a new head coach with all that draft capital they have? It has to be more than the Jets in my humble opinionMexicanHulk wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:36 pm I heard somewhere, can’t remember where, this person heard, Moore did not want to be drafted by the Jets. perhaps someone got through to him with the idea that situation is everything... and going to New York to play with the Jets is easily the worst situation available. If Moore can at least replicate his play from this season, he should still get drafted in the 1st round come next season, and hopefully, not by the Jets. being patient pays now, so it's not a big deal, i'm sure.Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:54 pm I can see a guy going back to avoid certain teams, but to go number 2 overall? I get that, but we know the Jets have a lot of draft capital and will be getting a new coach soon. It just takes the right hire to fix a team quickly. There is some inherent risk in going back. If his game slides or he gets injured and on and on. I keep going back to Nussmeier. His stock plummeted this year. It will cost him millions.riseNraid09 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 1:10 pm perhaps someone got through to him with the idea that situation is everything... and going to New York to play with the Jets is easily the worst situation available. I do like Mateer. He came back from the hand injury a bit too soon and it really affected his play. Someone might get a bargain with himAttyla wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:11 pm I got Mateer as that guy. nah, you're right. there is always the possibility of regression. it's definitely a gamble regardless of how you slice it... I just don't think it's the coaching situation that individuals are straying away from, I think it's Woody Johnson and Co. There's no faith there that New York will ever right the ship under his ownership.Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 1:15 pm I get that, but we know the Jets have a lot of draft capital and will be getting a new coach soon. There are legit arguments for either choice, but Moore is taking a huge gamble on himself which may not work out at all. Who knows what will happen next year after this draft with him, the NIL money he'll be getting makes the choice a little easier.

Moore’s decision shows why the teams tank at a strategic level (not at player and coach level). The Jets either wait until 27 or reach for a QB. And there’s not superstar playmaker to ease the pain either.
