OC that becomes HC will still have an OC and QB coach, we are hiring them for their smarts to get the right people in as well to mostly run their system.

All I can say is if Stafford wants that second ring he better get it this year, because it looks like the coaching staff may well be picked apart soon

We still have the draw of a coach who wants a young potential franchise qb to work with

Tomlin just stepped down in Pittsburgh. This throws another wrench in the coaching search as the Steeler job could be considered a great opportunity since you you are guaranteed longevity.

We know the rules in the NFL favor the offense. We know the most important draft pick in years is coming to hopefully change this miserable turd festival into at least a top 15 team. Would seem wise to give the young man every possible advantage. A receiver he’s already played with, a legitimate offensive line, his hero Tom’s time to Q&A, and yes, an offensive-minded Head Coach. Whatever we can do to not ruin a new, and more importantly, “winning” quarterback is for the best. IMO.
Out of curiosity, here’s the Super Bowl coaches and there respective proclivities…
2015. Gary Kubiak, Offensive-minded vs. Ron Rivera, Defensive-minded
2016. Bill Belichick, Defensive-minded vs. Dan Quinn, Defensive-minded
2017. Doug Pederson, Offensive-minded vs. Bill Belichick, Defensive-minded
2018. Bill Belichick, Defensive-minded vs. Sean McVay, Offensive-minded
2019. Andy Reid, Offensive-minded vs. Kyle Shanahan, Offensive-minded
2020. Bruce Arians, Offensive-minded vs. Andy Reid, Offensive-minded
2021. Sean McVay, Offensive-minded vs. Zac Taylor, Offensive-minded
2022. Andy Reid, Offensive-minded vs. Nick Sirianni, Offensive-minded
2023. Andy Reid, Offensive-minded vs. Kyle Shanahan, Offensive-minded
2024. Nick Sirianni, Offensive-minded vs. Andy Reid, Offensive-minded
Was fairly balanced until 2019. Though that’s primarily due to Belichick. After that though it’s a clean sweep. Seeing as how the NFL and its billion dollar TV contracts would obviously prefer the offensive fireworks to remain. It’s safe to say that nothing suggests a throttling of offensive output in the future.
But you know, let’s buck that trend and walk both ways uphill. Do the opposite of what’s working. It’s always done the organization wonders.
(If I need to spell it out, Offensive-minded Head Coach. End of story.)

Tomlin isn't going to go from one of the best run organizations in all of pro sports to the Raiders.
That'd be like workig as an executive at Microsoft to spraying produce at Walmart on 3rd shift.
Nip all that Tomlin noise in the bud.

What I want to see is Harbaugh become a Steeler and Tomlin become a Raven, and the two teams continue to beat the shit out of each other for another 10 years.DeathStar24 wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 12:35 pm Tomlin isn't going to go from one of the best run organizations in all of pro sports to the Raiders.

One major factor that makes me not want Tomlin is that I suspect he'll want to have complete control wherever he goes (same with Harbaugh). I just don't want that kind of structure and those guys have the resume that they will likely demand it and someone will give it to them.

I'm thinking he's taking time off, probably some studio work and see how it fits.chucker wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 12:39 pm One major factor that makes me not want Tomlin is that I suspect he'll want to have complete control wherever he goes (same with Harbaugh). It's possible. Plus one other thing with Tomlin is that the Steelers still apparently retain his rights because he wasn't fired, so they could ask for trade compensation from another team. Even if he takes time off to go on TV, as Sean Payton did.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 12:42 pm I'm thinking he's taking time off, probably some studio work and see how it fits.

No ones talking about Tomlin coming to the Raiders, but the Steeler job is now open and may steer away a potential candidate from the Raiders because of their history of longevity.DeathStar24 wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 12:35 pm Tomlin isn't going to go from one of the best run organizations in all of pro sports to the Raiders.

I don't want a guy who's looking for a lifetime appointment. I want a guy who looks at Mendoza, Bowers, Jeanty, Maxx, 9 other draft picks, and over $100 million in cap space and he just wants to work with all that and win. The ingredients are there, and if he's the guy then he'll have longevity.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 12:59 pm No ones talking about Tomlin coming to the Raiders, but the Steeler job is now open and may steer away a potential candidate from the Raiders because of their history of longevity.

I get that...but the guy who looks at Mendoza, Bowers, Jeanty, Maxx, 9 other draft picks, and over $100 million in cap space and he just wants to work with all that and win..may also be looking at having the time to do this based in the Raider recent coaching turnover. I'm playing devils advocate here, what else do we have to talk about..Marks barber?chucker wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 1:04 pm I don't want a guy who's looking for a lifetime appointment. How attractive is the Steelers job? Going 10-7 with no starting QB is considered failure by the fans and media. Seems like a hopeless situation to me. I’m sure there’s the feeling that the new coach will be afforded more patience than any other organization but it’s easy to be patient when you never have 4 win seasons. I look at that aging roster with no starting QB and wonder who would want to go there as it’s pretty bleak.
