Yeah I think after Mendoza the QB talent drops off significantly. Moore isnt even close to being worth of a top 10 pick, the media is just gaslighting us like they did with Cam Ward.NoClapsPlease wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 4:56 am Let’s be honest, this years qb draft is pretty bad also.

It doesn't make any difference if there is one good/great QB or six, as long as there is one available when The Raiders pick. In 2026 it seems there is only one (Mendoza) and The Raiders pick at 1.

Trubisky was the second overall pick, and while he has been a disappointment as a starter, his skill set does make his being a backup a has been consistent and he seems to be suited to the role. He also has experience being a high pick so he can help Mendoza navigate that aspect. He is also the backup for a good team that thought enough of hm to bring him in so he has seen winning football and winning football is the culture we are trying to create.SkullCrusher wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 2:27 pm What has made Trubisky be considered that IQ type QB and possibly a good QB coach/mentor? I'm not saying know, I' wasn't really aware of his knowledge here. Or just going with the Vet that has been around and should be cheap?
What I know I do want is what Brady mentioned during last offseason. Bill took me in a taught Tom everything about defense and that allowed him to know what they were running before the snap and it made him know where to go. His words, there's a segment all about this on the net and another about how a lot of coaches are cashing checks not really doing their job of teaching the game.
We want all of this and since he said it and is on our side, doing anything less would be stupid AF, that's the blueprint he himself has stated publicly. What needs to be done is to find that person who can train Mendoza the same way. That won't be a QB coach, we need a smart defense person to do this or Brady himself if one isn't available, assuming Bill isn't obtainable for the job. It's stupid doing anything less, he's the owner with said keys.
I more was answering the question that doing better than O'Connell and doing it on a budget would not be difficult at all. I like the idea of Trubisky because of his experience as a guy who had his share of struggles and has kept himself relevant. But I am very open to other guys as well. But we can do better than O'Connell and if we can we should and that should be across the board and that should be the attitude of the GM and coaches and that should be embraced by the fanbase as well.

It seems the media only makes guys who run around like crazy with a few big splash plays out to be the best quarterbacks. They seem to have forgotten accuracy, football, IQ, work ethic and desire.rich72 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 3:10 pm Yeah I think after Mendoza the QB talent drops off significantly. Saw the latest PFF mock and they have the Jets drafting Dante at 2 if he declares.

If there were more than one good QB it would at least give us an option to entertain a trade down to #2, not this year.RickRyb wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 3:13 pm It doesn't make any difference if there is one good/great QB or six, as long as there is one available when The Raiders pick. Scarcity drives value. If there were another good option at 2, the jets would be less inclined to trade up.rich72 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 4:38 pm If there were more than one good QB it would at least give us an option to entertain a trade down to #2, not this year.
I can’t recall a scenario where a team desperate for a QB trades down and value plays it. Not saying it hasn’t happened, I just can’t remember one.

We’d be crazy not to take Mendoza. What else do you want from the guy? Mental + physical + leadership + attitude

"Fernando"
(With apologies to ABBA)
Can you hear the Autumn Wind, Fernando?
I remember long ago a Monday night like this,
Under stadium lights, Fernando
The ball was humming, and the Raiders were surgin’ from afar.
I could hear the distant drums,
And the league’s lament was callin’ from afar.
The wins are close now, Fernando
Every hour, every off-season seemed to last eternally,
I’m still so stoked, Fernando,
We were young and football was life and none of us prepared to lose
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of fans and dreams of Lombardis almost made me cry
The football was in the air that night,
The lights were bright, Fernando.
Raiderettes shinin’ there for you and me,
For victory, Fernando.
Though we always thought all we’d do is lose,
Wins - No regrets.
If I had to do the same again,
I would, my QB, Fernando.
If I had to do the same again
I would, my QB, Fernando.
Fans, we're old and gray, Fernando
So many years since a trophy rested in our hands.
Can you hear the drums, Fernando?
Do you still recall the fateful night we lost it to The Tuck?
I can see it in our eyes
How proud we were to stand for silver and black.
The football was in the air that night,
The lights were bright, Fernando.
Raiderettes shinin’ there for you and me,
For victory, Fernando.
Though we always thought all we’d do is lose,

Though recently she’s started asking how I’m going to react when we take a punter 1st overall… I’ll resume Fernando after the pick is in
