I just want in on a McVay guy.

LeFleur at HC

Scheelhaase at OC

Works for me.

I tend to agree…but there is a nice mixture of offensive coaches and defensive/special teams types left in playoffs

And when or if Scheelhause does good as oc, he gets poached and our young qb has to learn a new system and another oc during his first couple of years in the league. If the next oc is successful, he'll be gone and the qb will have yet another oc. Im not interested in that. Hire an offensive minded hc and the system stays the same regardless

No clue if they know each other but Chris Shula with Webb at OC would be outstanding.

If the Raiders staff keeps getting poached, then that is a fantastic problem to have.

If there are questions with every possible coaching hire, I would prefer that the question be “Can they do it?’, rather than “Will they continue to come up short?”.

I would definitely prefer someone who specializes on the offensive side. Hell, cut-to-the-chase, I want Davis Webb. Everything you read about him or that’s been spoken about him sounds like he has “IT”. Why hire guys that may have had Sean McVay rub off on them (phrasing), when you can hire the next Sean McVay? Plus he’s been labeled a “QB Whisperer”, and there’s a certain draft pick coming that that marries well to.

Sean Payton may be able to hold onto Webb if he’s offered an OC job, there’s nothing he can do if a team offers him a HC job.

It would seem wise to then have a veteran OC/DC filled by a recently fired HC now humbled, or guys whose personalities slot them as OC/DC and nothing higher, but that’s really up to Webb and Spytek.

Anyway, OC guy that pairs perfectly with our new friendo Mendo. Cause that is THE most important part of this hiring cycle.

Good luck Spytek. :pirateflag:

At least they're taking time to hire.
Some years a HC was hired within a few days.

When names start to sign and when they are names you are interested in, then are you taking time or wasting time?
So far no one has signed so it's all good, but that will change.

With the net Spytek is casting, there’s probably a few more names still coaching in the playoffs that will come up.

If he is good enoigh to get poached by another team I will take that. We have had plenty of guys who were OC for us and didnt get poached. I would take that problem. Just like I would take a coach who went 3 and 6 in the playoffs with us.

Morris has worked with McVay too. Could be a solid DC hire to round out a Mike LaFleur staff

Johnny Maziel had IT too.

Payton is not getting rid of Lombardi just to keep Webb.

How.many good veteran DCs are going to be willing to tie themselves to a 30 year old head coach for the Raiders

How do you know Webbs style fits perfectly with Mendoza. We have no clue what that is.

I have never heard of a coach passing on a job he wanted because a team.took their time. If we want a guy we will offer.

I agree. Except when you have a young qb relearning a playbook every other year. Everyone says how's a qb supposed to succeed when the team is cycling through oc's, what's the difference between them being fired or hired somewhere else? Either way that young qb is having to learn a new system or playbook
