It's important to note that nobody whose team plays this weekend can be interviewed until next week sometime..... with the exact date dependent on what day they play their wild card game. All our interviews thusfar are with people who are actually jobless, or out of the playoffs or on a bye week. Interviews have to be virtual for candidates who are still in the playoffs.

First round interviews for candidates on the bye week need to be virtual. Virtual interviews do not fulfil the Rooney Rule requirements.

I did sort of forget/overlook the fact that Stefanski's team hasn't had cap space or first rounders since the Deshaun Watson trade. Easy to see why they failed.

Not really. Do you think Davis Webb's name happened to come up accidentally? If he wasn't "legitimate" we're not even discussing his name.

Interesting observation. He did his first playoff year in 2020. I realize it was a covid season but they won with Baker. But winning with Flacco is pretty impressive on the resume.

RaiderFan1 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 4:18 am What makes him a legit candidate ? The fact that he has never been an offensive coordinator and has never called the plays for an NFL game ? Thats the guy you want to entrust with Bringing Mendoza along and developing him ? So what will you say when we are 1 - 5 next season, blame it on Mark Davis ? hell Even Kubiak is high Risk with only this year being successful as an OC. Again I'll ask, what makes him a Legitimate candidate besides one guys tweet ?
What doesn't make him a legit candidate? Im not saying drop everything and hire him. But you have no idea if he's qualified or not. Maybe he's just a good coach. A lot of the hc getting hired gave had only 1 yr of calling plays. That's not alot of experience. Imo there's no timeline on whether a person is ready for something other not. I expect the team to not be very good next year. A new staff and players will take time. As long as the team shows improvement throughout the year, that's what Im looking for. Not necessarily the w/l record but actual improvement on the field

Everyone says take a swing on qb, I have the same mentality on the hc decision

At the very least Stefanski knows how to deal with a dysfunctional organization. That alone qualifies him for the job!

Trainnvain wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 5:53 am Every single team looking for a new coach is a shit show to some degree, that's why they have fired their previous coach. I could argue that there are at least a couple of teams that are as bad, if not worse, than the Raiders ( Browns, Jets, Cards). See the forest through the trees.
I get that but I can't believe that those other teams have as much confusion as the Raiders do as to exactly who is calling the shots and exactly who has authority over who, and who the new coach would have to directly answer to. There have been many disputes/discussions on this forum as to who is responsible for what.

Your post is about what I I think about when signing free agents or a new coach — who wants to come to a dysfunctional situation?

Jimmy Haslam might be even worse at his function as an owner than Mark Davis. Greenlighting that Deshaun Watson trade was crazy

I honestly did not see that coming. We should scoop him up as a OC. Pay the man. Give him Chip $.

I do not know what terminology you are going with but I am saying I would rather take a chance on him rather than regurgitate a previous failure. Known (the Raiders was his first HC interview he has EVER had) and legitimate are totally different in my book. I never said he was not legitimate which is why I said I would take a chance with him.

I want Spytek to do what he said he would do. Hire the coach and let the coach get his staff. But that does require a team to act fast so they have a lot of options

A year ago he was gettin’ feelers.
I think I got this right, 4 videos of a man grazing the sidelines and not once I heard his voice.
So the question begs, is Davis Web a mute?
