Mendoza is not staying, jury is still out on Moore. Simpson could use another year of college development but he doesn't want to compete with next years QB draft class. Its a smart move by his agent as Simpson would be QB2 in the draft if it was today and Moore was staying at Oregon.RickRyb wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:12 am IF Mendoza and Moore stay in school, do The Raiders take Simpson at #1 or trade down and select a QB later?
And no, Raiders aren't taking Simpson

I know it doesn't but there are those in this forum who've been heavily advocating for Simpson..at least up until the Rose BowlAttyla wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:10 am Simpson declaring changes things for other teams who are drafting top 10, but it does not change a thing for us.

He's declared? I suspect he's made the calculation that next years draft likely wont be any better for him.Rabidraider wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:12 am Simpson looked broken vs Indiana. Not fair to judge on one game but it was ugly.

I live in SEC country so I see them a lot when I want to watch that team, never not televised. That said, I honestly thought he would return for another year. I even had a "source" say he was staying. Never trust a Patriots fan. So I put his games on the backburner and was paying attention to the front runners. Watched a decent amount of Nussmeier early on but he fell off fast. Arch was another I payed a reasonable amount of attention to but my gut said he was not coming out. Johnson since that is my school but he never took that next step. Mateer they rushed back to the field. Never looked like before the injury. Chambliss but was cautious in my views since I saw a serious amount of hype and while the substance was there, some of it is smoke and mirrors.Rabidraider wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:12 am Simpson looked broken vs Indiana. All that said, Simpson will almost certainly be a top 10 guy, too many teams need a QB and while there are some free agents or tradable pieces this year, I am not sure they are better than Simpson's potential.
We know Murray and Tua will be on different teams, or we should know that. Both will go somewhere and be a starter. Wilson and Rodgers will retire. Jones will return to the Colts. I have no idea what they do with Richardson, but he may get released. I would keep him since he is on the rookie deal but I would not give him the 5th year at this time.
So you got the Browns, Jets, Raiders, Cards, Miami and the Steelers. I throw the Saints in there too but that is just me. So call it 7 teams that need a QB, 8 if you include Indianapolis, but Jones is going back I have no doubt. That to me leaves zero starting quality QBs in free agency. Call it three staring quality QBs in the draft and two you can get via trade. Two teams will have to figure out the issue and it may be solved by someone reaching for Mateer.
Which brings us to Geno. He will end up being some team's fall back as the 7th piece. I would be having serious conversations with the Steelers right now about a trade once the new league year starts. Get a 4th or 5th from them and pocket that bad boy for the draft.

Do you really think the Browns will be selecting a QB in the 1st or 2nd round?Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:39 am I live in SEC country so I see them a lot when I want to watch that team, never not televised. I'd love to get any pick and cap relief getting rid of Geno. I think Nussmeier ends up with his dad on the Saints or goes to Pittsburgh. He has a big Ben feel to me.. Simpson should of stayed one more year in my opinion. And Moore goes to the Jets as a consolation prize while we take Mendoza. If for some crazy reason Spytek and Brady end up loving Moore (Not likely), we could trade with the Jets for a kings ransom and then draft Moore. Not my idea of the way to go. But its possible.Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:39 am I live in SEC country so I see them a lot when I want to watch that team, never not televised. The idea that Moore is much more athletic doesn't pan out watching tape. They seem to have very similar athleticism and speed. Moore might be a little more elusive because he's smaller, so he's a bit quicker and could maybe elude a rusher with more ease than Mendoza. Arm talent. I can see a difference, with Moore having the better arm. Last time we had the #1 pick we drafted maybe the best arm ever. How'd that work out. So much more to being a QB. Mendoza checks all the intangible boxes.

Lol the new coach will likely move on from that circus quickly. Shadeur was the worst starting qb in the league during his time as starter

It’s a no-brainer to keep him. It’s very unlikely that the new HC and team will be telling media that “we expect to win” in the 2026 season. That’s what got Carroll fired and the Raiders at 32nd.
If our QB1 goes down with a season ending injury, AOC will keep the Raiders "competitive" ?
...not from what I've seen. For one, he's not nearly mobile enough to suit me.
Saying that he's better than our last 3 QBs brought doesn't give me that "warm and fuzzy feeling" either.
I think we can do better than AOC as the #2.
