The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

It was reported he struggles with complex play calling & setting protections multiple times which was the reason he was moved to guarderickench wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 4:12 pm I don't get you guys. One ankle injury and you consider him to be injury prone. JPJ should be our starting center backed up by Putnam
Other players were making the calls which you just can’t have
This has been reported multiple times & his supporters keep glossing over this, now this may just have been rookie struggles when transitioning to the NFL but it is a legit issue
If he is fit & healthy then for the good of the line i’d sign Linderbaum no matter what keep him at RG & have him battle it out with Rogers

Guards while important are the position you can’t go crazy spending $$$ on unless we’re talking an elite one like Nelson of Indy. Center needs to be the anchor. Pry linderbaum from the ravens.
IMO we actually have a fair number of good pieces but coaching was horrible and Parham needed to be shown the door two seasons ago.

I don't think anyone wants to bench him. I want everyone to compete for a job, I just want his competition to be for a guard spot and I hope he wins that because I think he can be a great guard if he stays healthy. I want his power just firing away and not slowed by the cerebral challenges in the center position.erickench wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 4:19 pm He did so well in his rookie season. Now you guys wanna bench him?

I truly think the mistake was made last season when we resigned Miller and didn't draft one of the elite tackles to replace him. I know he's been a good Raiders but with age and health, I would have moved on from him and trade him for a pick. Then used that pick to get another OG or RB.

“An executive for another NFL club said his team was interested in trading for Powers-Johnson, a second-year player who was drafted by the previous regime,” Kahler and McFadden wrote. “He wondered why the Raiders coaching staff wasn’t playing the young player with potential at center and had moved him to guard. When his club’s trade efforts were rejected, the executive said it was clear to him that Vegas’ coaching staff and front office were on different pages.”
“Spytek knows that he has a pretty young, talented interior lineman,” the executive told ESPN. “They are not where they want to be in that position group, but they didn’t come close to maximizing it. They actually have some good young players, and they should have been more functional.”
Brennan Carroll was the target of much ire from the fan base this season. The Raiders’ offensive line wasn’t great last season, but they somehow got worse in 2025. One agent suggested that Carroll wasn’t paying attention to the details.
“The agent also said his client said that Brennan Carroll rushed players through individual drills at practice and didn’t teach them what they were trying to achieve in specific drills,” Kahler and McFadden wrote.
Pete Carroll made a lot of mistakes this year, but relying on his son to coach the offensive line and then not holding him accountable might have been the biggest one.

I just feel like last year we could have traded Miller for a 2 or 3 pick.
Traded down twice in the draft and added extra picks there. Got Josh Simmons and added a OG in the 2nd like Tate Ratledge. Add in JPJ at C and Glaze at OG and you are a lot more solid overall IMO.

I think there will be too much competition for Linderbaum, the FA Center options and weak draft class at the position. I don’t buy the argument that JPJ can’t be an NFL Center. Coach the dude up and make sure he harnesses his violent playing style to end at the whistle. No clearing the pile late, dive rolls and all that other stupid shit he’s been doing.
LT: Miller, Grant
LG: Rd 2 Ione or Pregnon
C: JPJ
RG: Glaze, Rodgers
RT: FA (Salyer or someone else), Rd 3 Best OT available. Miller, Sierveld, etc.
If we miss out in Rd 2 for a starting caliber IOL, then pencil in Glaze at starting LG and Rodgers at starting RG. I prefer to keep Grant at LT as depth for Miller, because there’s a good chance Miller will miss some games because of injuries.

I would give Linderbaum a standard-setting contract for a center. f[raiders_icon]ck the competition, we can afford it and we should do what we can to have our center-QB combo set for years to come. That relationship is huge.

We can offer Linderbaum record setting money, but so will other clubs, maybe even BAL. Not quite sure why they didn’t pick up his 5th year option. I guess the real discussion is what’s Plan B if he decides to sign somewhere else.

Brady Christensen would be a good get this offseason. He’s played well all over the line for Carolina. IMO he’s best suited at RT.
LT MILLER - GRANT
LG GLAZE
C JPJ - MEREDITH
RG ROGERS
RT CHRISTENSEN

1000% back the truck up and pay him. We did similiar for Hutson and it was one of our better (few) good FA moves as of late.chucker wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:56 am I would give Linderbaum a standard-setting contract for a center. fck the competition, we can afford it and we should do what we can to have our center-QB combo set for years to come. Free agent centers. Linderbaum or McGovern are tops on my list.
