Agree. Clearly Interview matters. Also with some inexperience building a staff could be tough. He may need help in that regard. But pairing him with someone like Raheem morris could go well.

Morris is a good DC and won’t be hunted for a HC gig most likely. Has 2 different stops as a HC which would make a great sounding board. Also Webb could focus on being head coach/offense and let Morris handle that side.

Clearly pure speculation but if we make a move like this unless something becomes an unmitigated disaster you have to give him time to grow and learn

The Webb candidacy, if nothing else, highlights the qualities that teams should be looking for in a backup QB. And highlights that most of us have no idea who the best backup QB is, because we're looking too hard at what the guy did in relief or in preseason.

Like how catchers tend to make good baseball coaches, QBs seem to be the same. Makes sense as the best broadcasters are likewise. Whether or not people like them, Brady and Romo are insightful and that helps the casual fan.

McVay created the blueprint for a young inexperienced head coach when he hired Philips as DC and didn't even watch the game when the D was on the field. A young HC should hire a coordinator on the other side of the ball who's been a HC before.

#1. He can almost double his income by going to the NFL.
#2. Most coaches in college dream of going to the NFL
#3. Hes made his reputation in college, and now would be a perfect time where the NFL is looking at him.

He makes about $9mil per year in his current contract he signed .
He could probably get $17 - $20mil per year in the nfl. The top head coaches in the NFL get between
$16 - $20 mil. Someone will pay him big $

Who gives a shit about the NIL players ? Not the NFL , not NFL fans. People move for money and status.
Just ask Kiffen and Ole Miss fans

And by the reactions from Broncos fans on forums and social media? They are not happy we are looking at Webb.

Now whether or not that means anything isn’t the point. The point is often (some, not all) fans have a fairly good pulse on coaches especially within their org.

FWIW Rentz says his source believes Minter is the top guy. He also details the connections Harbaugh/Spytek have

I mentioned on a previous post that Cignetti brought in Hoover. I still say that our brass should do their due diligence and leave no stone unturned. What is the harm of communicating with him and feeling him out? I hope this team is not so shortsighted that it would not at least open up dialogue. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

We’d all be laughing our asses off if there was news that Brennan Carroll was shown interest.

Exactly. The fact that the reactions is universally no from Denver fans tells us something.

Attyla wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:30 am For my money, of that list, I would think Kubiak or Webb would be my choice.
...agree, out of the candidates so far, after looking at his resume just now....he has not only done the job he has done that makes him part of the conversation, but has also worked under some really good offensive coaches, which makes me think that he is better equipped than some others, to evolve, as defenses evolve to try and counter what he is doing.
....just as an example, that is one thing that seemed to happen with dabol when he was with the bills, in that he would seem to become more predictable, at times, with his play calling, and it seemed to be more so after mid year, and they would get in a rut, and that is with Josh Allen, who is probably as good as anyone at bailing out a play at a crucial time, to keep things moving.

Webb is certainly on a trajectory to be a future head coach. It's probably too soon for him but if he absolutely aces the interviews and has a experienced dc hire maybe he can learn quickly and be ou mcvay. Does seem more likely he gets an oc job for a defensive minded head coach first.

That’s why I’m wondering if it’s the play.

* as an org we had never shied away from young coaches.
* paired him with a strong defensive coach.
* we are building a coaching staff QB first which is the right way to look at it.

Now will this come to fruition? No idea but it does track.

I think its a foregone conclusion that we will go all offense this upcoming season (QB, OL, WR). We are going to have to reverse the positional role from last season (making Chip the highest paid OC in the league). Lets get that stud DC (break the bank if we must). As far as Webb, I have no problem with him. Hopefully he grows with our pups until everyone really figures it out.
