There are things I like more about Mendoza's game than three taken in that draft. Mendoza is going to surprise some people, he is much more of an accomplished passer then he's given credit for especially when you look back at his time in Cal.

I hope he is Tom Brady level good and fills his hands with rings as a Raider
If he busts I can easily forgive the pick because we have to take swings at QB if we want to see the Raiders win again.

I mean Mendoza is not as good of a prospect as those guys mentioned, but he is absolutely a #1 overall pick. I like him a hell of a lot more than Cam Ward.

Hes a better prospect than cam ward or bryce young (much better than ward). Id say hes on par with drake maye (not where maye is at now but I remember quite a few experts who were not as high on Maye).

I dont think he's on the same level as Maye, even when Maye was a prospect. Def better than any QB last year tho.DanKD wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:34 am Hes a better prospect than cam ward or bryce young (much better than ward). And Mel Kiper is going to get his annual podium to spew bullshit. The guy about had an aneurysm when Shadeur wasn't taken until the 5th round. He was talking shit up and down about every team that didn't pick him. The mother***er's been at this for what, 40 years, and he's no better at this than any of us.raidersince63 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 8:51 am Yup...we have to endure this crap every year around this time...listening to so called "experts" who act is if their opinion is any better than yours and mine after sitting a bar and doing 8-10 shots of Patron'.
His one upside is that he knows something about nearly every player in the draft. So I guess he deserves brownie points for reading lots of notecards.

If these talking heads are such great evaluators of talent and such experts, why don't they already have a gig with an NFL team?

Going back a few years hereBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:37 am I dont think he's on the same level as Maye, even when Maye was a prospect. Def better than any QB last year tho.
Mendoza is better than
Ward, Young, Murray, Winston Bradford and Goff.
He is not as good as
Stafford, Newton, Luck Mayfield (although I think this is closer than most would think) Burrow Lawrence and Williams
So he right there in hunt. What we do have in Mendoza is a great teammate who is smart and a student of the game.

Lawrence was better in my opinion. It is Cam Newton that I think was a lot of hype but was probably better.

Yea, I wanted Lawrence too. We might be seeing him really take off now.Jeevo wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:57 am That's high praise, Lawrence was one of the highest rated QBs ever in his draft year.
