New coach ………. Again

What’s your thoughts? I prefer young offensive minded with a fresh DC. Kubiak, Cooter, Kafka and pair them with someone like Al Harris as the DC.

Better come around a little more. It's Stefanski!

Gruden is suing the league but I think most references to that in this thread are with respect to Flores, who is suing the league and several NFL teams over racial discrimination in hiring.

I know. I was just having fun at the expense of folk gettin’ their ire raised about Flores suing the league, while out the other side of their mouth, they cheered Gruden suing the league.

Flores is the only defensive guy I could stomach taking our HC position. I like the dude. I like that he started in scouting, which may explain him wanting Herbert while the owner forced Tua upon him. I like that his one and only year as an untitled DC for the Pats, he had them beat the Rams in the Super, holding them to the lowest points in NFL history. I like that he’s comfortable bucking an owner’s flippant wishes. Especially with how that would be for our Raiders.

Having said all that, I don’t mind Stefanski either, and would prefer a former OC took over as our HC.

Still super early in this new offseason. Lord have mercy on this franchise.

Didn't Flores also whistleblow about Dolphins tanking? Just not sure I'd like so much drama to start this rebuild with our hopefully new franchise Qb. Great Defensive mind though....

Flores would be a certified disaster here as HC.

He's enthusiastic and he's a good leader, but it'd be a lot less risky to start him at the QB coach level. If he were to say to an underperforming QB "I can get out there and play better than that!" it would be the truth. He'd bring instant credibility and knowledge to the position.

The Rooney rule for me is a joke & the NFL has allowed it to be that way for a few years now

I will say if you want a coach who is the very DNA of what the Raiders identity is all about a coach who is suing the NFL exactly that & it would be a very Al like move to hire Flores

The Italian Stallion (Cignetti) or bust. I know he is old, but he is the best coach we could get. Is paying him a ridiculous amount of $ and the chance to continue with Mendoza enough to have him jump up. Probably not (especially with the Hoosier's signing of Hoover), but I can dream.

CWood24 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 5:36 am Flores for me has earned a shot at another HC & the more i think about it I wouldn't be mad at hiring him as HC.

I don’t consider Flores a retread in the sense that some do being that in his time at Miami he had success turning them around with the added problem of an Al Davis: Jerry Jones like owner constantly meddling plus he has success of turning around the defensive side of the ball wherever he has been

So i don’t have an issue with a defensive minded HC like some do in fact i think i might benefit our young QB more as a offensive minded HC will have less time to spend with him than an OC would

My number one coaching options are Jesse Minter & Marcus Brady (passing game coordinator) would be my favourite tandem we could put together

Brady has worked with some good offensive names in the past in Mark Trestman, Frank Reich & Nick Sirianni that interests me
He wasn’t meddled with in Miami. He had to report to a GM like 99% of first time HC do & report to an owner like 100% of coaches do. I want Kubiak to get the job but I also want Spytek to have final say on personnel.

For all crap AP got for winning meaningless games, can we not say that about Flores who started out 1-7 his 3rd year there? Should we nail him for calling a WR screen in the end zone against us that got us a safety?

People with better records have been fired as HC. Flores says the dolphins were racist against him even though his general manager was a black man.

Now it’s one thing to sue the team you worked for, yet he goes and accuses the Giants of the same thing when they hired the Bills assistant GM, who in turn hires the Bills OC to be their HC. Then he goes and accuses John Elway of being drunk and not being serious about him as he showed up with 5 Bronco executives to conduct an interview in Flores backyard. It got so bad Elway even had to come out and call him for his BS. I don’t blame Elway.

Now with all that baggage he’s (allegedly) @ the top of Brady’s list. I highly doubt this is who Spytek wants to go for.

Heck, I guarantee you nobody on this board has him as their favorite & why would we stick a rookie QB with this guy when we can hire an OC to be his coach for life?

Reid, Payton, Harbaugh, Cohen, Johnson, Moore, Shannahan…naw let’s go get Flores, brilliant plan

Las Vegas Raiders – Brian Flores
This one makes all the sense in the world. Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is one of the league’s top defensive masterminds, having found success under multiple organizations since rising through the ranks with the New England Patriots. Flores was arguably the biggest reason the Vikings finished with a 9-8 record, as the team had perhaps the NFL’s worst quarterback room and not all that much talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Flores has previous head coaching experience, having gone 24-25 during his two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. The organization ultimately fired him because he didn’t believe in Tua Tagovailoa, and time showed Flores was right to doubt the Alabama product. He deserves another chance, and his connection with quarterback Tom Brady makes him an ideal fit for the Raiders.

I'm sure it will be, but The Raiders coaching staff needs to be in place prior to the combine. My best guess is The Raiders will announce their new Head Coach between the last playoff game and the Super Bowl.
