...I think that a team is less likely to be used as leverage, and left standing at the alter when they have what we finally have this year, to sweeten the pot. ...the # 1 pick, and a legit, potential franchise QB to use that pick on, of course, is what makes this year different for us, though also with a lot of cash to spend, and with talent in some key positions, which makes filling holes, also in key positions, much more doable, and in a much shorter period of time.heavyD wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 8:57 am If hiring the right coach was easy there wouldn’t be the masses of firings every black Monday. To be fair Pete has winning pedigree and I don’t think anyone would have predicted that the Raiders finish last place and worse than AP. They clearly went after the right guy in Johnson but once he was out of the running, the pickings were slim and they probably looked at Pete as a bridge who could set up a foundation. It didn’t work out but picking 1st overall is a really nice parting gift. This hiring cycle looks even worse and we have to hope that the Raiders braintrust finally gets one of these hire right.

Glad he got to go out with a win. Glad we beat the Chiefs. Thank you for the number one pick.

No more antiquated cover-3 and terrible personnel decisions.

Anyone with half a brain will make that decision on day 1erickench wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 8:56 am His own son got him fired. I hope the next coach has the good sense to move JPJ back to center.

That win cost us draft position while giving KC better draft position. I do not see how it was good TBH.haji81872 wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 9:41 am Glad he got to go out with a win. Glad we beat the Chiefs. Thank you for the number one pick.

1. Sometimes, it's good to win a game.RI RAIDER wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 10:00 am That win cost us draft position while giving KC better draft position. I do not see how it was good TBH.
2. The Chiefs' draft position should not be our concern.

First off you call me out over this Raiders statement but the statement itself is a lie? Yeah ok then.Attyla wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 8:59 am Um no, Brady currently calls games on Sunday, but he spent decades learning the game of football. As for his involvement up til now? No, it did not change my mind. He was never in the building during the season and was very rarely there during the off season. He was a sounding board, by his own admission. The fact that the Raiders said he will be active in the new coaching search does not necessarily mean its true and if it is true, the "guy who calls games on Sunday" can use his HOF playing career (you know, that thing you never had) to our advantage. I get it you think Flores is the choice because if it is and we fail you can pound your chest, but the process will include interviews where Brady is likely not even going to be in the room because he will be preparing for the next game he calls.
News flash, fat man, I value his opinion above yours by a factor of a million. Tattoo that to your stomach.
What sticks in your craw is I was 95% right about Brady in my predictions. Of course hires like Pete, ruling out Darnold, forcing Chip on Pete, sitting in the coach box on game days and getting mad at the press for reporting just never happened in your world.
This job & the Giants job are the 2 best ones out there so forgive me if I prefer an offensive minded HC in a QB driven league.
And if you haven’t paid attention 90% of these jobs as HC or GM are NOT going to former HOF players.
You can value Brady’s football opinion over mine all you want, id rather read the books of Bill Polian and make my opinions on personnel that way…in fact I’d rather have a football discussion with the crap I just took than listen to more of your Brady butt kissing.

He had to go but I’m getting pretty f[raiders_icon]cking sick of firing coaches every f[raiders_icon]cking year.
BradyTek need to find a solid hire and let him cook for a few years. This shit has to change

And we cannot forget that Carroll had an excellent GM to work with all those years, John Schneider. He is the Ron Wolf of the Seahawks and still manufacturing great drafts and FA signings.Willmark wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 8:27 am It would have been great to have the Pete from 15 years ago. Instead we got the version the game had passed by.
Anyways, onwards and upwards.

JPJ was supposedly a "steal" to get him in the 2nd round. But -- he is clearly injury-prone and has now had concussions in both college and in the NFL. And, when I watch him, he looks average vs. the big, bad DTs out there.erickench wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 8:56 am His own son got him fired. 1. You are right. However, not in this case.
2. The Chiefs (as well as everyone in our division) should ALWAYS be our concern.

I think it's to soon, but he at least got us the number 1 pick. Just hope we don't f[raiders_icon]ck that up.
