I don't believe you can make a binding deal in that regard. Teams are going to lie, we all know that. Gaining an advantage is part of the deal. Trading up or down is just poker chips, how you play those chips is your choice.Jeevo wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 9:03 am Does anyone know if you can trade a pick to a team with a condition on how they use it? Can part of the deal be that they can’t select a certain player with it?

I feel like most of the time the teams just select the players then trade them with other compensation afterwords.

really like that moore is going up against a ferocious texas tech defense today. they are swarming and coming from all angles. a great test for him.
we shall see what is up with fernando shortly. steady light rain here in los angeles. should taper off by kickoff.

Why would the team trading up 1 spot make that trade? If team A wants player A and Team B wants player B, why would they trade up one spot to still get Player B? The trade up has to be at least 2 spots.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 9:16 am I don't know if they can make it official but Im sure they come to agreements. I hate engaging you because the discussion is always shallow and unfulfilling.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 9:06 am You act like anyone takes your comments seriously. You literally brought up three QBs that went to the Super Bowl in your Mendoza comparison and still have your doubts.
Since its a new year, let’s give you a try again:
Where would Goff or purdy be without literally the best coaches the league has seen in the past 25 years?
What’s your confidence level that a QB will succeed here like the two mentioned above?
And just for reference, I’m not in love with any of the QBs in this draft - I want the line and the WR position addressed first and wait until 2027 for the QB, so that we aren’t putting him in position to fail.

Terrible miss by Moore on the deep ball. Luckily for Oregon TT has a terrible offense

Jared Goff is doing damn well under a guy who I think is an awful head coach in Dan Campbell, at least from an X&O standpoint. And funny how you left Matt Ryan out of your response. Why don't you take a look at who his head coaches were and get back to me. Yes, I agree that Shanahan makes Purdy look good but I haven't seen one comp of Purdy for Mendoza.
You asked about my confidence level that a QB will succeed here but that's not something you, I or anyone can answer at the moment since none of these coaches will be here. Regardless, it does not mean that you don't address the most important position in all of sports when the opportunity is staring you right in the face.
And funny you want the O line and WR position addressed before taking a QB but you base your Mendoza argument on head coaches. Which is it? Not sure if you are aware of this but you can address QB, WR and O line at the same time with a competent staff.
Hope that was fulfilling enough for you.

You mean, you don't want the shorter, skinnier, slower, dink n dunk merchant in Moore?

I don't normally put up highlight reels but here you go. Watch how he steps into his throws. Watch his play action passes. Watch where he can cut and run when the play breaks down. Watch his touch on the post routes. Watch his twitch. Watch his lower body as he drives. Watch his ability to go through his progressions. These are not things you get from rookies these days. You get RPO athletes. This is a QB has no fear because he is big, already big. Like Ben Rothlesburger big. And his build is almost Big Ben right now. My one complaint is he plays out of the gun too much.
While Rothlesburger had a better deep ball, we have a guy you can make some serious comparisons to. Watch when he runs, he is faster than Ben was, but he can take a hit like Ben and keep going.

To stop someone else from making the deal. I think there was a 1 spot trade up within the last couple of drafts.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 11:12 am Why would the team trading up 1 spot make that trade? - I left Matt Ryan out because I said Mendoza I something like a poor man’s Matt Ryan, acknowledging Matt Ryan’s excellence
- 2 things can be right at once. Does our team not need a better coach, improved oline play, and help at the WR position?
- 3 Mendoza isn’t going to fix the problems above alone
- 4 look at how the bears and Texans changed their franchises after hauling picks.
It’s a legitimate option especially if you’re not entirely in love with a QB prospect.

I want to jump in on this for one thing. Nobody is saying the QB alone is going to fix any of our other issues. People are saying you have to take a shot if you can to fix the most important position on the field. The other issues can be fixed while you fix that. For over a month now I have been talking about this guy. He is a smart player, but he is also just flat out smart. He is better than Ward coming out, he is better than a number of guys taken first overall recently.NoClapsPlease wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:03 pm Interesting.

Yes, it is a legitimate option if Brady’s choice of QB is neither Mendoza nor Moore. Don’t know enough about any of them to comment on how likely it is, but with all the chatter it seems pretty unlikely.NoClapsPlease wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 12:03 pm It’s a legitimate option especially if you’re not entirely in love with a QB prospect.
