Take your pick with our rutabaga of an owner.
We’re going QB with our first pick, I would bet a pile on it, but I’ve seen enough that I can see a world where our brain trust comes up with something none of us predict. Again, don’t think it will happen.

Disappointed is a significant understatement. Kirk Cousins is and always has been a backup caliber QB in the NFL. Way too many people overhyped him throughout his career.

Never thought of that, but that’s the kind of thing that can happen when you have the 1st pick.

"Never underestimate the Raiders "ability" to screw things up."

Said by Willmark, a few moments ago. Probably.

I'd rather have a rookie QB with a 5 year rookie contract. Getting a high price veteran QB and spending that kind of money for the 1st 2 years as the rest of team develops would be wasteful.

drafting Mendoza keeps him on rookie salary scale for 5 years. Hit on that pick, while using the money to build the roster, is the best way to turn this org around.

Burrow would improve us, but not as much as hitting on a franchise QB through the draft. Burrow will also be 30 next season, Mendoza is just starting the journey and his timeline corresponds with the time it'll take to get everything fixed.

Don't overthink this, draft Fernando Mendoza.

Not to mention Burrow would be coming to a worse situation than what he has in Cinci.

Yeah he has a no trade clause. Zero chance he would force a trade to a way worse situation. He is frustrated by the lack of an O line he won't come to a team with a worse line and waaay worse WR situation

Agreed. We are going to need every bit of our cap space. At absolute minimum we need 2-3 quality o-linemen and some real help at receiver. That’s not mentioning the fact that our entire back 7 defensively can kick rocks.

I love Burrow but if he didn’t like the quality around him in Cincy… coming here (absent any resources to overhaul) would be his descent into the 9th circle of hell.

It is really this simple, even for Mark.

I really don’t think Mark is making the pick.

Take the guy you have as 1 QB, fire Carroll and hire a QB whisperer type to replace him. We can’t hire an OC to bring the QB along, it has to be the head coach.

I understand this but never underestimate Mark's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The only upshot to this goatfuck of a season is that we may be able to draft a true trajectory changing QB.

It says a lot that at this stage of the game.

We literally do not trust the Raiders to make the correct decisions. In fact, most of us expect that the Raiders will actually take an active, affirmative step to deliberately do the wrong one.

Now do I truly believe that? I'd like to say that is hyperbolic, but after we've seen decades of ineptitude? You have to start wondering.

Has there been any talk of Mendoza sitting out the playoff?

Many top projected picks protect their bodies by sitting out.
