Fano projects as a guy who would be better at LT once he has acclimatised to the pros but would initially start at RT like Joe Alt

Mauigoa for me is a RT or even RG at the next level he is a mauler that creates lanes

Either is good for me as both are road graders that move people & open lanes

All this is only if we fail to be in the convo for Mendoza, Moore or even Simpson

I don’t think it is as bad an option as people are making it out to be
I agree and I think we should be looking at that eventuality.

Edit PS: road grader is the word I love in your post. That is exactly what we need.

I don’t know, Mostert has looked pretty decent out there. We should probably see what we have with Zamir

RI RAIDER wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 12:58 pm We control our destiny. That being said, many of these football publications have conflicting SOS numbers. I guess the best one to go with is the one from the NFL.

https://www.nfl.com/news/2026-nfl-draft ... every-team

These numbers conflict with sources like Tankathon and Sharp.
No, go with Tankathon. At the end of the year, the year-end SOS reported by the NFL and the others, like tankathon will converge and be the same. But the NFL and Tankathon are using different methodologies for reporting in-season week-ending SOS numbers. The NFL method is kooky, and certainly less useful. Our current SOS as reported by Tankathon is .543. .543 is what you get when you divide 138.5 (the current combined win total through 15 weeks of our 17 opponents) by 255 (the total number of games played by our 17 opponents through 15 weeks). The NFL is reporting our SOS as .580. .580 is what you get when you divide 130.5 by 225. What they are doing is they are not counting the 2 NYG wins and the 6 KC wins yet in the win total (the numerator) because we havent yet played the Giants and havent played our 2nd KC game. They are also excluding the 15 games each played by KC and NYG from the denominator for the same reason. The NFL method is kooky because their methodology is suggesting that those 30 game results are still in play. They are not in play. Theyre settled. Those two teams are a combined 8-22 in those 30 games and those results should be reflected in SOS now to get an accurate picture of the standings.

You can see the same thing with the artificially low SOS the NFL is reporting for the Jets. The Jets play the Bills and the Pats the next 2 weeks. So the NFL is excluding their 23 wins from the calculation. Obviously there is going to be a huge downward correction in our SOS as reported by the NFL after we play the Giants and a likewise huge upward correction in the Jets SOS as reported by the NFL the next 2 weeks. These corrections wont reflect anything that happened in week 16. It will reflect happenings in weeks 1-15. Thats why its kooky.

If anyone is interested, I had also said previously that if we beat the NYG and lose to KC that our chance to get the #1 pick was less than 1/2% chance. I was wrong. It is 0%. It is mathematically impossible for us to get the #1 pick if we beat the Giants. Ill give you the Reader's Digest explanation. If we beat the Giants, we have to have (among other things) any Cleveland win (because they have already clinched the tiebreaker over us) and we have to clinch the tiebreaker over the Giants (because the Giants would max out at 3 wins). Those two events, it turns out, are mutually exclusive. We played Cleveland and the Giants didnt, so any time Cle wins a game, our SOS goes up. At this point of the season, even a single Cle win is enough to clinch the tiebreaker for the Giants over us. So if Cle wins a game, we cant clinch the tiebreaker with the Giants. The best we would be able to achieve is to tie the 1st tiebreaker, but the Giants would have the 2nd tiebreaker (head-to-head play). So the Mendoza funeral could be moved up to this Sunday at 7PM. The end.

From the Athletic......

Raiders

The Giants and the Raiders meet Sunday in Las Vegas in what will be a huge swing game. A Raiders loss would bump their odds to about 62 percent, while a win would knock them to about 4 percent. The Raiders also have a Week 18 game against the Chiefs — now down to their third-string quarterback — that could loom dangerous for fans who are dreaming of the top pick.

Giants

An all-important game in Las Vegas next week could decide who makes the first pick. If the Giants lose, their No. 1 pick odds launch to about 67 percent. If they win, the odds tank to less than 1 percent. Like the Raiders, their path to the top pick is rather clear: Lose the last two games, and the No. 1 pick is theirs.

Jets

The Jets’ odds for the top pick boosted slightly after Sunday’s result, but still rank last among the teams in the running.

Browns

The loss boosted Cleveland’s No. 1 pick odds by about 12 percent. If they lose their remaining two games and the Giants and Raiders each win one game, the Browns are expected earn the top pick by the strength of schedule tiebreaker.

If we lose to the Giants, which I'd call a 50/50 game, gonna be interesting to see how far we go to lose to the Chiefs.
Who made the decision to shut down Bowers? I'm guessing Pete had nothing to do with. Who else will we shut down? Could we promote Cam Miller off practice squad and let him play final game? I think it's going to take effort to lose to the Chiefs.

The Raiders will also be starting a 3rd string QB,..no matter which one it is...just sayin'.

I saw some interesting speculation today about the Giants. (On TV this morning so no link to share.)
If they have the #1 pick, they’d draft Mendoza and trade Dart. That would be some plot twist.

That would suck. How bad is this game going to be when it's best for both teams to lose?

If I recall correctly, Raiders have made it a habit in recent years of making practice squad and 3rd string QBs (not to mention vets coming off the couch) look like Joe Montana.
