Opposite to what others have said, I don't think that playing new players with the knowledge that you're not going to get the best results is a conspiracy to purposefully lose because there's the legitimate chance that you can find a player who can contribute to success. At some point, the guys you draft need to see the field in order to be able to assess their viability and build your roster even if there is a vet who at this moment is a better player.Attyla wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 11:17 am In your scenario, if 1 guy is pulling out the stops, they are running the very serious risk of being fired. NO GM is going to do that. Period.
For the cheap seats, it requires a conspiracy. It requires that your job will not be at risk. You cannot do that unless it is true. To know your job is not at risk means your boss allows this to happen. That is a conspiracy. If You know losing will not cost you your job and you force a team to lose KNOWING you will not lose your job, that means your boss is on board. That is a conspiracy.
Live in the real world for just one moment. A GM tells his coach they have to play inferior players. The coach tells the GM if they do that, the owner is going to fire him. So that means he refuses. And Carroll is that coach. He is not going to give up the fight. And Carroll gets to decide. Period. There is NO tank without a conspiracy. Period. A first year GM is not telling a veteran coach who to play and who not to play.
Jesus, it is like debating the wall.
Rookie QBs are easily the best example. Kirk Cousins will almost certainly do a better job than any #1 drafted rookie QB, but you have to get the young guy out there to see what you have. Look at our Jack Bech. Now that he's being given a shot, he's showing something. That risk may be panning out.

Probably true... unfortunately. Why are our GM's always just a figure head with no say??? Why are our f[raiders_icon]cking HC's always given so much say??? Things that make you go hmmmmm

I don't care about the semantic discussion of what is, or isn't, "tanking". I'm bored with it. I wish it was in another thread so the people consumed by such discussions can argue to their hearts content without me having to even scroll past it. Maybe Attyla or Tooz can start a thread that the rest of us can ignore.
I want us to give the players we may want on the team next year and in future years the chance to show if they deserve to be part of the plan. And I also want the first overall pick. I'm focused on the scenarios that get us there.
The Giants' game today is a big one, because they have a winnable contest against Washington with Mariota at QB. I don't see the Titans with much of a chance against the Niners, but I guess you never know when you look at the Niners' list of injuries.
Among the 3 win teams, I think the best chance of a win is the Saints over the Panthers - I just don't believe in the Panthers, despite a solid record. I still think the 3 win teams might be a factor in our draft pick - we could win one more, despite what most fans want.

The only positive I can see coming from the status of the franchise as it is currently constructed, is that we have nowhere else to go but up.Hellbound wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 7:58 am Maybe a bit of recency bias? The bed & breakfast team absolutely atrocious

Good one, lol. I am going to start referring to you as Word Man, as in Tom Berenger's character from "Eddie & The Cruisers."

Unfortunately even one win likely spoils a shot at Mendoza or Moore
