Tyler Lockett expected to sign today

I wasn’t happy with McDaniels turning Vegas into New England 2.0, Carroll and the GM making this Seattle 2.0

And if Pete was really serious about winning, he wouldn't have hired his Nepo Babies as coaches. Both of which have been complete busts.

Let's see Nate Carroll: entire coaching career except for 2024 with the Panthers as their passing game coordinator (and all we know how awful Bryce Young is) was spent with Daddy.

"Unsure of what to do after graduation, the younger Carroll was offered a job by his father to work for the Seattle Seahawks as a personnel assistant in the scouting department for one season before being named a defensive assistant in 2011."

Brennan: Started under Daddy. Did nothing until one good year in college with Arizona but has no good pro results as an O-Line coach.

He wants his security blankets and gives them a free pass while demanding competition from the other players or coaches.

That is why I soured on him. He is an old man who craves familiarity above everything. That is fine for a nursing home resident, not for an NFL head coach.

The best coaches I worked with didn't settle. I worked with a volleyball coach who didn't care if a player was Rookie of the Year or First Team the previous season. If they struggled the next year, he benched them until they or their attitude improved.

Pete is out there saying Geno turned a corner about a 67 yard performance. Why? Because he didn't throw a pick and he wants to justify why Pickett hasn't been inserted into the lineup. Guess what, Pete? Only throwing 67 yards is about five interceptions because the team kept punting.

So, bring in Lockett. Maybe we could conceive Sherman to stop mucking up the Prime TNF Halftime Show? I am sure there are other Seahawk relics to sign.

The Real CK wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 1:01 pm Poison value. It wasted a year with a worthless showboat in AP. Bowers is awesome. But you know is more awesome? A franchise QB. Bowers, without a franchise QB, is rims on a jalopy, as seen by last year's 4-13 record. Meanwhile, Denver went to the playoffs with Nix. But hey, we beat Denver in the final game of 2023, allowing them to jump us in the draft rankings. Hang the banner!

Most coaches are myopic. It is why good leaders in my profession exist above them in the hierarchy to focus on the big picture. Most of them are not any more insightful than fans. I have worked with plenty that are absolutely clueless but interviewed well or graduated from the school. They just chose to enter the field instead of going into banking or real estate. College athletics is a different beast without drafting, so the whole angle about jobs doesn't relate.
Ah, you have insight into the NFL level coaching quality. Which team have you had direct experience with, curiosity now holds my attention. Do you really think we were as good defensively as Denver or had their depth that year? Also, as has been stated, they have a QB whisperer coach who gets the most out of the position. We had no where near that. So saying if we had Nix we are a playoff team or even implying it is wasted breath.

Value is always going to be found in winning. The fact that you don't find that value does not mean it is not there. I am a fan, I like watching a win. I find value there. It is fleeting but enjoyable. That is value to me. Others do not see that, and thus they find no value in a win, but that does not mean it does not exist.

There are very few things in life that hold no value. Very few indeed. You like big words and the debate. Good for you, that is your view of value. I agree that a good vocabulary and the ability to use words to debate are good qualities. Or value. You also like to use rather childish renaming of people to belittle them. You know if is annoying to some so you exploit that because at your core, you really enjoy annoying others. You hold value with that. I on the other hand think it is, in my opinion, very childish. It annoys me. You see that as a win so you gain a value from that. I get to point it out for others to see which means you will now double down. But here is where value finds fault. When those "names" you create push valuable members of the forum (and note the use of the word valuable) you create a counter to the value. And I am as guilty as the next person, I do not use the childish names, but I know how to get under the skin of another. I am making a real effort these days not to do so, but that does not mean I do not know how to do it.

But rather, these days I am trying to be more discussion oriented. I am not doing childish things I have done in the past just so I "score" a point. But that is me, you continue on as you see fit. But there ls almost always value even if you belittle it or counter it, it is still value. Pierce got another year on the job. I hated it but he got some value from it. But we got Brock and generational talent is value. And I suspect the amount of time until we make a stab at our QB is close at hand.

Unfortunatley it doesn't make sense at all. You have a 2nd rounde in Bech and a 4th in Thorthon. Give em the reps. I already know what Lockett is, I'd like to get a sense of what the rookies are.

The Real CK wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 12:54 pm Carroll is clearly in charge of the personnel, or at the very least, has too big a say in it. The roster now has six former Seahawks: Lockett, Smith, Stone Forsythe, Kyu Blu Kelly, Jamal Adams and Jon Rhattigan, and there's been very little production from this group.

While Carroll did not bring in Kelly, he's given him far too long a leash, and fans can only assume it is because of their prior relationship in Seattle. Smith has also been a travesty for the Raiders this year, and yet, he continues to start.
Eh...every coach brings in former players to his new team. That's nothing new

Lockett at this point is very much a slot guy, but not a possession receiver (I know that sounds counter) and has good hands. Bech and he probably play the same type of position. He is not going to take reps from Thornton. Different game as he is a speedster. In Lockett's prime, they might have competed. But not now. If Meyers is going away, he is just replacing him.

I am not even sure how much Lockett will play. I suspect he will be limited, at least at first is my guess.

Everybody knows the Pete wasn't the first choice because the guys they wanted (whoever they were) didn't want to come to this dumpster fire.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't in favor of the hire. But the question is who wants to coach here?
Mark Davis has the money to pay for HC; if somebody offer you 12 million to coach the raiders would you turn it down; only downside to coaching the raiders is that the raiders are in the toughest division….

I want Pete gone yesterday but you’re bonkers if you think that's the only downside to coaching this embarrassment of a team.

the one profession where the vast majority of people know they are going to be hired to be fired. I cannot think of another profession with this percentage of guys who get fired. And a good percentage get the position multiple times only to get fired again.

On top of that, the hours are incredibly long, the amount of people who question your every word and go over every decision you make with a fine toothed comb is crazy.

Those guys can have it, the entire job for most of those guys is pretty much only downside.

Eh I don't even care about all that. Those guys get paid very well and most actually have a love for the game, unlike most players. Also, most land on their feet somewhere else. I am referring to our team specifically. There are plenty of downsides to coaching the Raiders.

I just only hope for someday (not soon I know) to have an independent GM.

I can dream, can't I?

PS So question answered about final decision on personnel; it's Pete.

This has got to stop.

The signing shouldn't have happened period. It is a sign of a vain and desperate attempt to save a lost season.
I choose to look on the bright side, maybe it's Spytek giving Pete enough rope to hang himself. If Pete pushed for this and it ends up another failed move (which it likely will), gonna be tough for Pete to survive into year 2.
