Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?

Unread post by RunOverByHubbard »

Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.

At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

Jakobi is gone before the deadline imo. I don’t think they will deal Maxx, even if they should.

Stupid f[raiders_icon]cking team. f[raiders_icon]ck these idiots. You have to trade Maxx to improve this team for the long haul.

I always say I'm done with this team and I keep coming back. But this may be the straw that breaks the camels back. They are showing they have no interest in righting the ship.

That's why I give Jerry Jones props for having the genius and balls in his old age to make his team better for the future.

What also doesn't get talked about is how often Maxx gets hurt and how often he plays hurt. He plays through injury to add to his persona but he's largely ineffective while doing so. There are many snaps where Maxx does his best Tyree Wilson impression, just standing there with his hands on the OT.

People keep saying since the Raiders aren't competing any time soon they should just trade Maxx while his value is still high. While true, a guy like Maxx who is all about effort is a good role model to have for a young team who's rebuilding.

I look at Khalil Mack who still plays at a high level into his 30's or Hendrickson who's almost 3 years older than Maxx who also plays at a high level. Spytek will have more money and high draft picks next year to get a qb in the draft and talent in free agency without needing to trade Maxx.

Maxx is here to stay and I'm good with that.....

Montez Sweat
Acquired by: Chicago Bears
Traded by: Washington Commanders
Compensation: A 2024 second-round pick
Details: Chicago immediately signed the 27-year-old to a four-year, $98 million extension after the trade, locking up a key pass rusher for the future.
2022

Bradley Chubb
Acquired by: Miami Dolphins
Traded by: Denver Broncos
Compensation: A 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 fourth-round pick, and running back Chase Edmonds.
Details: The Dolphins promptly signed Chubb to a five-year, $110 million extension. Miami made the move for an edge rusher after an uncharacteristically slow start to their pass rush that season.

Robert Quinn
Acquired by: Philadelphia Eagles
Traded by: Chicago Bears
Compensation: A 2023 fourth-round pick.
Details: Quinn was coming off a career-high 18.5-sack season in 2021 before being traded mid-season. The Bears also agreed to pay a large portion of his remaining salary.

Khalil Mack
Acquired by: Los Angeles Chargers
Traded by: Chicago Bears
Compensation: A 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 sixth-round pick.
Details: The Bears made this trade to clear cap space and acquire draft capital. Mack, coming off an injury-shortened season, was reunited with Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, his former linebackers coach in Chicago.

2021
Von Miller
Acquired by: Los Angeles Rams
Traded by: Denver Broncos
Compensation: Second- and third-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Details: This blockbuster deal was made in the middle of the 2021 season as the Rams went "all in" for a Super Bowl push. Miller, a future Hall of Famer, helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI that season.

2020
Yannick Ngakoue
Acquired by: Baltimore Ravens
Traded by: Minnesota Vikings
Compensation: A 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 fifth-round pick.
Details: In a rare mid-season flip, the Vikings traded Ngakoue just six games after acquiring him from the Jaguars. The Ravens reunited him with his former Jaguars teammate Calais Campbell.
LOL, not a single one of those player were considered a premier pass rusher at the time of those. You even left out the fact that Mack actually was traded for two firsts when he was in his prime.

Highly doubt we will get two first for Crosby; maybe a 1st and 4th or 2nd and 3rd….

I like Crosby to stay; but the Raiders have a massive rebuilding program coming up and it going to be a few years where we can actually compete with the better teams

Bradley Chubb and Von Miller weren't premier pass rushers? Miller himself helped the Rams win a super bowl that year. And Mack was better in his prime then Maxx is now which is why he went for two f[raiders_icon]cking 1sts and why i left him off. Mack was in the same tier then as Parsons, Watt and Garrett are now. And Maxx is not. Imagine not having a clue of the NFL outside of Raider land. Your precious Maxx isn't worth two 1sts. I know you like to stalk my posts but you should do some research before you open your mouth.

Can't wait for the trade deadline, so I don't have to hear any more rumors about trading Maxx away.

Being that it is smoke & mirrors season there could be a scenario where the Raiders are getting it out there that they aren’t interested in trading Maxx to maybe up the price for him

Maxx is top tier but i’d say he isn't untouchable

It is great to see Maxx’s loyalty but this is a business.

If the franchisee isn’t going to be good for a while and can get high quality draft picks for him.

The management will consider it.

Imagine being a mascot for a losing franchise. You act like that's something we/he should be proud of. If we have any hope of improving this team for the long haul, Maxx should be traded.

What if the games he’s watching are just his older brother playing Madden and has him convinced that it’s the real thing?
