Chris Simms is a douche bag.LayneStaley wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 5:27 pm Chris Simms says he’s unimpressed with Jeanty and thinks he’s not explosive enough. Now I know why Gruden compared Simms to warn piss running down this leg.

Both of those fellas have proven out to be horrible judges of talent.LayneStaley wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 5:27 pm Chris Simms says he’s unimpressed with Jeanty and thinks he’s not explosive enough. Now I know why Gruden compared Simms to warn piss running down this leg.
There’s a guy Jeanty reminds me of. Wasn’t very explosive, but was fundamentally sound, great balance, great feel for the position, nose for the end zone etc. etc., yada yada yada.
He had an inch and 10lbs on Jeanty. Ran a 4.59 compared to Jeanty’s 4.42. He did alright for his career. Played behind a damn good OLine for most of it as well. Got himself a few rings. For the time-being that dude holds the record for most rushing yards and most rushing TDs in the NFL.

Really looking forward to Jeanty gettin’ it goin’. Great for the team, and great for the forum not being subjected to a season of you bangin’ this “I liked Membou more” drum.Sloth_Fratelli wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 6:46 pm I have the same concerns &Membou pretty much dominated his 1st game

That is actually a pretty fair comparison. Nice post.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 7:21 pm Both of those fellas have proven out to be horrible judges of talent.

I think a lot of this is overblown.
Jeanty had 8 carries with the sole purpose of chewing clock. He also lost yards on most of those carries.
His real numbers are around 11 carries for 45+ yards and a TD. Not a bad day at all. Especially considering the Patriots keyed on him the whole game.
There was a play where Jeanty legit ran through 4 players to get 3 yards. I'm not worried at all.

O-line has to be better. It’s not just that last years line was below average run blocking… it was historically bad. I read somewhere Jeanty had more yards after contact than yards. Which pretty much means he was getting hit behind the line more than he was just getting to the LOS.
Zero concern on Jeanty or his explosiveness. High concern that our o-line isn’t any better than it was last year and running on early downs is going to be a real struggle.

Simms is as arrogant and uninformed as Simms Sr.LayneStaley wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 5:27 pm Chris Simms says he’s unimpressed with Jeanty and thinks he’s not explosive enough. Now I know why Gruden compared Simms to warn piss running down this leg.

I agree, overall he's barely played. I might agree with Simms on the explosion, has he had a big hole to run through including in the preseason. But what I do see is good leg driving and balance which are very good RB traits along with good shiftyness when he's not hitting a wall of defenders at the line. The NFL's had very few runners that could deal with that and most are from yesteryear.mranquales wrote: Tue Sep 09, 2025 9:13 pm I think a lot of this is overblown.

Yes to the post talking about his blocking. On the tape cut up's after the game, he impressed there.

The TD run is what you should pay attention to, that was textbook. Moving in traffic, finding some space but always moving forward. And even keying on him, they did not stop his forward progress.
It was very Henry like.
