No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.

Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

Like you said, Mack was great but it didn't change the Bears fortunes. Maxx is great but we still suck. Etc.

A DT + two first rounders ain't bad. That's four first round picks in two years which can help Dallas trade up if e.g. a potentially great QB is there.

Keeping Parsons was the safer move, that's the only sure thing, but everything else is speculative until it isn't.
Mike Haynes to the Raiders?
Fred Dean to the Niners?
Charles Haley to the Cowboys?

Having all these firsts, the Cowboys are in the position to select their QB after Dak.

Haynes to the Raiders happened when we were the winningest team in the NFL and had already won 2 Super Bowls in a span of 7 years. GB hasn't been to the SB in 15 years when Aaron Rodgers was under center and they certainly didn't look like the Raiders of yore last year. When the trade was consummated we were already 8-3 and one of the odds on favorite to win the SB. We gave up a 1st in the 84 draft but at the time of the trade (late November) adding Haynes made it highly likely that the Patriots were going to end up with the 2nd to the last or very last pick in the 1st round in 84. We also gave up a 2nd in the 85 draft.

Dean to the 49ers was a great trade for the 49ers and certainly helped propel them to the SB but the compensation was a 2nd round pick in the 83 draft for what was one of the best defensive players in the NFL. THAT was a fleece.

Haley to the Cowboys was also a great trade for the Cowboys and helped propel them to the SB but the compensation was a 2nd in the 93 draft and a 3rd in the 94 draft. That was a fleece.

Also, important to note, in all 3 of the cases listed above the very year these players were added there team won the SB. The whole object is not to just win more games but to win a SB. Otherwise, why bother if your team is already a winning team? As I pointed out previously when your coach (in this case LaFleur) star is fading, he needs to grasp for something to keep his job and a name for himself. To me, that's what much of this was about. They added Josh Jacobs last year and that was supposed to make them a contender for the SB! Everyone was crowing about how great they were going to be and what was the end result? 11-6 and 3rd in there division. The offensive "mastermind" LaFleur is nervous. Love doesn't look anything like Favre or Rodgers to me and there #1 Receiver finished 36th in receiving. Now JJ is a year older and slower with an extra 300 attempts on his body from last year.

Does this mean that it won't work out for GB? Of course not! With that, I would note the last of the trades listed here happened 23 years ago and to keep things in perspective, unlike the nightly news, the broader picture of big name defensive trades like this that didn't work out need to be noted in the interest of a more complete look. Seymour to the Raiders, Allen to the vikings, Mack to the bears, Revis to the bucs, Fitzpatrick to the steelers, Chubb to the dolphins, Smith to the ravens and Ramsey to the rams.

All of these trades came with significant compensation, and at least a one first round pick and none of them resulted in Super bowl championships for there team much less the very first year they were added. Ramsey was added to the rams 2 years before Stafford came to town so he can't be considered the missing piece, that would belong to Stafford and same goes for Smith. He's been with the Ravens going on 4 years now so if they do eventually win, it can't be claimed if they win a bowl that he was the missing piece.

Was it Haley, Sanders and White from 30 years ago?

Jon Gruden

President Donald Trump attempted to dispel brewing concerns over his health by posting a photo with a football coach who fell from grace over leaked emails containing racist, sexist, and homophobic language.

Trump touted his golf game with former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden in a Truth Social post on Sunday.

“Great playing Golf with Jon Gruden — A really nice guy, and true character!” the president wrote, attaching a photo of himself fist-bumping with the once-venerated coach, who was wearing a Trump hat.

Yeah, this trade all comes down to what Dallas does with the picks. They could def package those picks to trade up and get a low cap cost star player.

If that is true sounds like a bad mix of Akili Smith and Jamarcus Russell.
