Around the NFL
No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

If I’ve said once I’ve said it a million times, if Davis didn’t look like he shits his pants for fun he wouldn’t get so much criticism for everything he does, like lowering prices for people with disabilities.

So he spoke off the cuff without thinking through details- big deal. Nothing he said is legally binding and if he likes to do stream of consciousness in front of the media, he's the only one that has to deal with any backlash; it won't affect the team's performance on the field in any meaningful way.Attyla wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:26 am The problem is, he made a wide level statement and now they are going to have to define and narrow it. They should have defined it and got the legal team around it first and then he should have said "certain" levels of disability can submit an application for a ticket and based on what has been defined as qualifying disabilities will be considered for a limited number of available tickets

He should have said all that in a simple statement? Hash out all the intricate details? That can be done on the team's website, not in a statement to the press.Attyla wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:26 am The problem is, he made a wide level statement and now they are going to have to define and narrow it. Teams offer discounts on tickets already for other groups like veterans. They also have games where people with specific criteria can get discounted tickets. I have seen this done for people with different kinds of cancer or illnesses. There are a lot of ways to approach this.

nope, they should have hashed out the details ahead of him "talking off the cuff" and then made some grand statement that people are able to go to the website and apply for the tickets.haji81872 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:56 am He should have said all that in a simple statement? Its pretty simple, legal sets up the fine print, they apply and if they are qualified based on criteria, they are put into a group that can get tickets. Hell, this stuff is easy to do. But do it right. As it stands now, my wife would be in line for a discounted ticket.
This is why this shit pisses me off. Technically, my wife is disabled. But she would not be in some states and even with her glass eye, does that entitle her to a ticket? Not that I would want her to try and not that she would want to try, but there are people with minor disabilities who would. And who gets jacked over that? A kid with a far worse disability.
Define your shit and then be saying what you want to say. But have it set up ahead of time. Me personally, I would have partnered with Make a Wish because they are set up to do it, and then not only are you getting kids into games, you are also partnering up with one helluva charity. That is a win/win in my book. Make a Wish vets out this shit to ensure scammers are not getting away with scams. They know how to do it. And you are also focusing on the kids that way (although there are a few adults who benefit from Make a Wish as well)

I have questions...LayneStaley wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:16 pm
I wonder if this will help get more home team fans in the stands.
Where did Mark Davis say this? When did he say it? Who did he say it to? Why?
Why has no Raiders reporter, that I could find, reported this statement? Wouldn't it be news?
Why is 1gorilla_rilla omitted from the Insta image--he is the originator of the post on Insta. I can see the post, but here's what shows up when I copy the link:
So my last question is, did MD actually make this statement? Just wondering.

#1: Dont assume, because when you assume you make an ass out of u and me. But mostly out of you. I dont want a price reduction for me, I am very well-heeled. And I dont live any where near LV, and even if I did I wouldnt go because I would much rather watch the games on TV.Trainnvain wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 7:30 am So, if you can't get a price reduction, no one should. Maybe Mark Davis can chisel that lump of coal in your chest into a heart shape.
#2: I dont object to him giving discounts to disabled people, although I would like to know what that discount is and how many reduced tix he actually makes available.
#3, What I do object to is his smarmy, self serving and false statement that he feels affordable football tix should be available to "everyone". That is the implication of his words. Yet every time I go to a sports web page to look at schedules they always have the "tickets starting at" link for people to buy tix. I have yet to see a game where his tix are less than 400 to 500$, whereas many other teams, even good teams, have tix starting at <200$. I occasionally have seen links for other teams' tix under 100$. So he should dispense with the unctuous public relations oriented platitudes because his product is clearly not even affordable to the middle class, let alone everyone. His professed "earnest" and "sincere" belief is not congruous with reality.

Nothing like a good strawman argument. I’m not a Davis supporter but I also don’t automatically hate everything a person says/does because of my dislike for them. How many billionaires don’t come off “smarmy” when trying to relate to common folk?

If you can't really argue about something being done, then argue about the WAY it's being done.

Would you mind pointing out the post wherein I criticized Davis for lowering ticket prices for the disabled?
And BTW I dont automatically hate everything he says or does. So you are following up a strawman argument, with another strawman argument.

I agree. He's (rightfully) made fun of for his appearance but it seems to me like that goofy perception bleeds into other things. Personally, I like Mark. I remember when we didn't have GM's, and going to a game live was an exercise in masochism due to how pathetic our old venue was. I think he's done a lot to repair the harm his father did in his later years, and still finds time to focus on good gestures like the one mentioned.LayneStaley wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:31 am If I’ve said once I’ve said it a million times, if Davis didn’t look like he shits his pants for fun he wouldn’t get so much criticism for everything he does, like lowering prices for people with disabilities.

It seems to me your main argument was/is you don’t think Davis is in touch with reality, specifically when it comes to the everyday man hence wanting to know the exact details of the discounted tickets and not liking his smarmy attitude? If this isn’t correct let me know because maybe I missed a post. My answer to you was and still is how many billionaires are in tune with the everyday man? I think that’s a pretty on point question regarding what you are arguing.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 11:43 am https://www.google.com/search?q=strawma ... nt=gws-wiz

Also I never quoted you to start this conversation and my feelings on Davis were not in response to anything you said. You quoted me.

Do you find it offensive when someone gaslights you? That is precisely the effect of his words. He is putting forth a distorted version of reality that would have you believe that his ideal is universal accessibility and affordability of the in-stadium experience, even to fans with moderate means. And that runs counter to the truth that is obvious to everyone. The fact is that it will never be that way. At best you would conclude he is out of touch and disconnected from the financial realities of most people. At worst, he is being duplicitous. How do you think Joe Lunchpail, making 50K with 2 kids and a wife, views this? Dont piss on my back and tell me it's raining.RickRyb wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 11:39 am If you can't really argue about something being done, then argue about the WAY it's being done.

Yes. This is what I object to. This is what he should have said:LayneStaley wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 12:12 pm It seems to me your main argument was/is you don’t think Davis is in touch with reality, specifically when it comes to the everyday man hence wanting to know the exact details of the discounted tickets and not liking his smarmy attitude? We are reducing ticket prices for people with disabilities and those facing life's toughest challenges -- because Raider Nation is built on family.
The other stuff is gaslighting.

Until I see credible proof, other than the above Insta (sketchy), I'm going to think Davis never said it and the original Insta post is gaslighting.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 12:46 pm Yes. This is what I object to. This is what he should have said:
