Pick 92 is 4 picks away from the 4th round(not sure what the compensatory picks look like at end of round), if that makes people feel better.
Edit: There appears to be 5 compensatory picks at end of round so 9 picks away from 4th round total.
And again: This is just the bonus pick we got when Davante (who was always going to be a FA by now) whined his way out of town. Trading that pick is 100% playing with house money.
What QB that is available was? Nobody. We knew were were not getting a top QB in FA. What signing would have made you happy ?
The Top FA quarterbacks were Sam "Six Terrible Seasons Followed By One Good Season That Ended With Two Straight Crappy Games" Darnold and Aaron "I'm an Old Man Who Can't Shut Up About Politics and ME ME ME ME ME" Rodgers.
Not exactly inspiring.

If the pick makes you sick, I hope we do a small trade down and get a 2nd to make it all better. Then draft Jeanty.

Would you agree that he's a massive improvement over what we had? Would you agree he's a guy you can go into a season with and feel at least OK about? He's had success the last three straight years, two of those under our new HC.

First and foremost welcome aboard Smith and hope you experience a career resurgence in the silver and black.
Did not see this move coming but as far as I am concerned the outlook was murky as hell this offseason when it came to the QB position. I simply did not see that many viable options out there for the Raiders in either the draft or free agency.
That said the Raiders still needed to address the position. They have found their veteran for the QB room. Steady and can be quite clever or wily on the field and someone who can definitely be an asset to any young QB the Raiders may find while giving them a respectable option as starter.

Not a playoff team, not a high draft pick.

The brain trust stated they were going to fill the QB room and let the chips fly. They will still draft a QB.
I never defended the previous guy.
I never said AOC was the answer.
I'm not getting pissy or antsy.
But we have lots of peeps here who have been screaming about draft capital, reminding everyone about all the draft picks the Raiders have wasted on players through the years, suddenly being rather nonchalant about a 3rd rounder gone which could have helped build our future.
All I'm sayin' bruh.
And we still have a 3rd rounder this year. This was basically trading a disgruntled Adams who's production was eaning for a solid qb in Geno
If we draft a qb, which I think we will, do you think AOC will make the roster? Serious question, cause I’m not sure.
In light of us being so thin at QB this past year, I'm almost certain AOC should make the roster.

But hey that's what happens when you are a bottom feeder!

Not a playoff team, not a high draft pick.
We were 4-13, with two wins coming against pancake opposition at the end of the year.
"Middle of the pack" would be a significant improvement in 2025. And then we build on that for 2026.

I agree that we still need to draft the long-term solution either this draft or next. But he buys us time now AND ensures the guy we draft won't have to be thrown into the flames Day 1, which has ruined a lot of prospects (Smith himself could tell you a thing or three about that).

A couple of points to consider:
Just because you're not singling out any one member, that doesn't mean you're not attacking anyone. Calling a group of posters with the same view morons isn't better than just calling one person a moron.
We're all Raider fans, and disagreeing (even if it sounds whiny) with what the team does is OK and we're still Raider fans. Please don't suggest that someone who doesn't like a move should pick another team or leave the board. Don't be the fan police please.
We're pretty lenient with regard to profanity and don't pretend to be "family friendly" so your posts can be full of f[raiders_icon]cking shit, but if they attack other posters even without profanity they still might vanish.
It's all just opinions, and we're all wrong a lot and that's ok. We all need to appreciate that someone else might have another view, even if their reasons don't seem compelling to us. Thanks.
