Hiring a head coach is such a crapshoot unless you luck out with timing like a coach like Sean Payton or Andy Reid becomes available... so normally, it's a crapshoot, so that being said, maybe not my first choice, but it wouldn't be a bad choice if we did get Gruden back as long as he had no GM control, and we had a GM in place that had full control, Gruden could only be the head coach... He has shown he can design a great game plan to beat the Chiefs even when it was obvious that the Raiders talent level was nowhere even close to the Chiefs talent,, and we were still able to win, and then other games atleast compete to the end..
His schemes, playcalling, and game plans can actually be really good and he has proven this, of course, he needs the players to execute and perform for his playcalling and game plans to seem successful, we haven't had players to execute and perform for a long time consistently .... but gruden sucks at draft and free agent selections... again, not my first choice, I would love it if Sean Payton or Andy Reid type became available, but that's highly unlikely... so for me , my first choice would be a Sean Payton/Andy Reid type becoming available, second choice is difficult to say, but we can hope for a Brian Daboll type guy ready for head coach job, but like I said, that's a crapshoot, and I think third option would be Gruden with no GM power...... unfortunately, its all about timing and who becomes available...

Unfortunately Davis makes the final call and look where that’s led the team to date. I have less confidence in Mark finding the right people than I have in McDaniels getting this team on the right track.
Where has all this Gruden can design a winning game plan come from he didn't have a winning season when he was here second time around
a winning season has nothing to do with his ability to design a winning game plan and his schemes.

we had shit players and really shit defense, which shows his GM skills are horrific, but we new that from his time with Tampa.

But with that horrific defense and shit players he was still able to beat KC which at the time was the best team in the league, and the following years game we were winning at the very end, and Mahomes drove down the entire field with only seconds left on the clock to score and win it...

I give Gruden a lot of credit for those games. just look at the talent the chiefs had vs what the raiders had. Facts are facts, you can't deny he didn't do that, and it was impressive. Grudens problem has always been his drafting and free agent picks, not his Game plans and playcalling ..

Honestly I think we need to stop going big brand and take a chance investing in an up and comer.

It’s hard to miss the pattern here: most of your top head coaches right now had never been head coaches prior (and tend to be younger)

Mcvay: first HC job was LA

Shannahan: first HC job was SF

McDermott: first HC job was Buffalo

McDaniel: first HC job was Miami

Lafleur: first HC job was Green Bay

Sirriani: first HC job was Philly

The list goes on.

My top pick would be the Lions o-coordinator Ben Johnson. Young, innovative, has made the lions offence relevant and all reports are players seem to love the guy.

Add 43-6 to Atlanta.
34-3 to the Jets.

No thanks.

I think he will need to fire Patrick Graham before the end of the season if our defense keeps looking this bad.
