"We knew once we hit him a few times, he really gets shook," Bosa said at the time. "And you saw on [Christian Covington's fourth-quarter] sack he was pretty much curling into a ball before we even got back there.
"So, great dude, great player. He's been having a great year, but we knew once we get pressure on him, he kind of shuts down and he's not as effective with a crowded pocket, so that was the key to it."
“I’m a fan of him. I think we get along,” Bosa said, via Gilbert Manzano of the Southern California News Group. “I was just pointing out something that I noticed. When he gets pressured, he seems to shut down a little bit. Seems like a lot of quarterbacks do that. … He’s one of the top passers in the league.”
“I think the world of Joey,” Carr said in his Wednesday press conference. “I think the part we missed, he said I was a great player and a great dude. I think we should talk about that stuff instead of the negative stuff because I think the world of him. I wish him the best always, except this week, that’s for sure. I think he’s a good dude, good player. But honestly, that stuff is so old, and I’ve been just through too much to even care, to be honest. Let alone in my career, just even this year.”
"I just thought it was unfortunate that he'd even think to say it," Carr said. "Maybe he was just trying to get under my skin. Which, he did piss me off. So, good job for that. But that's not a bad thing, either."
yes Derek, we should just talk about you being a great guy. Nothing else. But we should do it in this thread and not in the main forum.

This seems to be the right spot to put this thought down. The irony is, if we do better this year, many will point out an improved defense. Not that Jimmy has a good year. It will be pointed out that the Saints will have a good year, not because of their defense but because of the addition of Derek. Of course these two scenarios only apply if the precursor is true. I am not convinced we will be significantly better but I am hopeful we can eclipse last year and I am equally convinced the defense should be somewhat better.

Ain't that the truth!
I would/will argue that he's in the perfect situation. He's replacing a 35 year old Andy Dalton who was just downright awful last year. Carr is mediocre enough that they can get enough out of him to do better then the garbage they had. If they can't and they go down in a heap they will be tied to him for one more year then they can cut him for 17 large. Or, they could keep him for as a back up at 45 million.

I had to watch the Saints opening drive and Carr did fine as he often does on opening scripted drives. The funny part was when he did throw the TD pass, he celebrated like he just threw the winning TD to win the Super Bowl in OT. It was almost cringe.
O`Connell was asked if he kept the football he threw for his first NFL TD and he said no. LOL

I think Derek will be a drain on the Saints' D like he was on ours. Some 3 and outs, some throw aways, keep them on the field... suddenly will look pedestrian. Then his mid-year check-out. Saints go 9-8. Even in a shitty division. So says Amish-damus.

Saints fans believe they found their savior golden boy and is the best thing since Brees.

He will play impassioned football trying to prove his legitimacy. In those two regards, he will be successful. It is when asked for sustained play where he will falter. Everyone knows the book on Carr, you have to get in his head. When you do that, you beat him.
