Oh please, when the contract was signed, people were saying we would easily get a 1st at a minimum for him. The PLAYER then failed. Also, there are people here claiming he will get more money on the FA market.
Like I said, let’s see what the free agent market is for him and check back. We will find out soon enough if the player is the reason teams weren’t lining up for a trade. I’m just as ready as everyone else to move on from Carr, you just happen to believe he’s worthless in the NFL, and I don’t. I’ll bookmark this one.
Mr. Both Ways. Before I blocked him it was I have insider info, teams are lining up, we're gonna get a first and you're crazy if you think we aren't, blah blah blah. I can only imagine the clean up on aisle 4 today!
It cost us 5 mill last year and 6 mill this year to get rid of him…
On his old contract (before the “extension”), what would have been Carr’s cap hit in 2023 (if we cut him)?
I was just going off memory. The real cost is $7.5 million cash last year, which ends up as $1.9 million against last year's cap and $5.6 million on the 2023 cap as dead money.
And, more importantly, the loss of the 3rd round comp pick we'd have gotten by letting him go as a FA.

If we cut him this off-season, what would have been our cap hit this year (with his old contract)?
His contract would expire this offseason, so there would be no dead cap hit at all and we wouldn't have cut him, he'd just become a UFA mid March.
If he'd done what some former posters here had expected and led an explosive offense, and walked on water, and cured cancer, then we still could have franchise tagged him this offseason for less than the 2023 salary in this extension.
I wouldn't release him. Hold him, trade him later after he knows it's his only option. I don't think the contract is out of line with what he'll get as a FA.
I've been saying this for a while now. Carr's play was to simply say I won't except the trade. So let the contract vest and let his agent know we'll go into the offseason with him competing for a roster spot in the QB room. His salary is already accounted for. There are to many teams that need a QB.
To valuable to just release. Let's just hold our fire and let this ride out a few weeks.

Right now I don't care about getting anything for him. Cut him now before kickoff so Raider Nation can breathe a sigh of relief that he's gone.
Whatever, we wanted him outta here and we're going to get that. Good riddance.
THIS^ EXACTLY.
He's gone. I don't care that we didn't get anything for him. I don't care how he does anywhere else. I just care that we're finally rid of him.
This past season was going to be the last time I watched this team if Carr came back (until he was released at some point).
Carr sucked for most of the past 6 years, but what it made it worse were his weird ass fans------and now we're rid of them too. They can go be a f[raiders_icon]cking pox on whatever team's fanbase he goes to.
And now we can fight with each other about all kinds of shit that has nothing to do with the Milquetoast Mamba!
