Last year the WTFs traded a 2 and a 3 for Carson Wentz and the Colts traded a 3 for Matt Ryan. Each guy was about $30 million. Don't underestimate the level of desperation teams have at the QB position and don't underestimate the "I think they failed him and we'll make him work" attitude of NFL coaches.
Welp, maybe I'm wrong, won't be the first time. But I don't think I'm wrong when I say it would be incredibly stupid on the part of the Saints.

Knowing we have a viable trade partner, and Carr has enough interest in the Saints to take the visit, it would not shock me in the least if the raiders let the deadline pass. It would be different if Carr didn’t get on a plane and fly across the country to visit.
You're not wrong, but radio talkers say things in order to generate phone calls, not because it is their deepest belief. It's the parameter they use to gauge the audience.
I agree that the "shock jock" mentality among some sports guys is there. Cowherd in this case was just ranting. It was not click bait level shit. I think he really thinks Carr is not a fit for the Saints. It makes no sense to me at all. If there is a team that he is most assuredly a fit for, it would be them. He would go from Sin City to Strip City. The possibilities for his side hustle are endless there.

Not crazy at all to think that others could come to the same conclusion.

I truly believe McD cam on kind of late and didn’t know much about the squad. He played JJ in the HOF game.lol.He gets a pass.He was the one to get rid of his ass,so I’ll always be a big McD guy.Only regret is that they saw Carr sucked early on and didn’t make a move .Stidham had a chance to get us in the playoffs .Bad move.

Hell, I wouldn't want news about Jim Irsay being featured at all, let alone during Super Bowl week

Although if Al Davis wanted to get back at the league for something, I'm sure he'd have no problem stealing some of the headlines during this weekend.

In other words they might offer a lower pick for him. Let's get this trade done now!

If Carr wants his money, which reportedly he does, it would behoove him to extend when the guarantees vest. Just don’t see the Raiders taking on that much risk for an uncertain and arguably less than ideal outcome (i.e. 3rd RD pick).
Not if we cut him. I suppose there might have been some agreement when we approved him meeting with the Saints that any discussion of any transaction with him as a potential FA is tampering, but you'd never prove that.
But I've also maintained all along that if there's a trade market for Carr then we should not cut him, and it appears that there is a trade market for Carr. If you want leverage then you may have to risk something - you certainly have to make Carr and other teams believe you will do it.
I would love this hardball approach a hell of a lot more if Carr's contract did not possess a no trade clause. It simply gives him almost all of the leverage in this scenario.
No matter what one team might be wanting to give the Raiders if Carr wants to go to another team....then that is where he will go and the Raiders will have to take whatever they are offering for him. And if that team has spoken to Carr, as the Saints have, they could have actually constructed a strategy to screw the Raiders IF the Raiders attempted to play hardball.
Including a no trade clause in the contract last year was the biggest mistake that Z made last year. I think he and Josh made several in dealing with Carr last offseason, but that one was the dumbest one by far.
P.S. You sign a player to large contract but one that is in essence a 'prove it' deal AND also include a 'no trade' clause: it makes no sense at all. IF you sign a player to a prove it deal, the last thing you want in that contract is a 'no trade' clause. That is about as stupid as stupid can get when constructing a 'prove it' deal.

Team is not going to risk his salary next year. They have already played their hand by benching him. That move pretty much ensured they are not going mess around when it comes to us being on the hook for his money.
