And then, instead of applying logic and saying “oh ya that offense did look different than it has the last 16 weeks” Carr fans will go “I knew it, I knew it! McDaniels sabotaged Carr!”
Carr fans have always used “Magicians Force rule around here aka “heads I win, tails you lose,” what makes you think they are going to stop now?
Okay, seeing that they drew up "the contract" at the beginning of the season, they were betting, and the odds were heavillllllly in there favor, that Carr would wash out. So McZ knew he was going to be a one year rental while they were turning over half the roster.
As stated around here a few times now maybe in this thar thread(?) I gotta believe because they have been well ahead of the game that they have been talking with other team(s) about the possibility of trading him. I'm sure they would like to get something for him. Maybe the Jets?
They have a coach on the hot seat and a good defense.
At the beginning of the year, Derek Carr & Josh Jacobs were on the same boat. Z&McD didn't know what they had plus they couldn't let them go. It would have been Cutler saga once again & at least McD for his sake couldn't afford it. Both were given a "prove it" opportunity. The difference was that Carr is a QB hence it would be an added burden on him to play under the spectre of a final-year contract. This is why Z&McD extended the contract and gave him all he thought was needed to focus on football. The difference was JJ proved himself & Carr didn't. My estimate is that the org. will do all it can to sign JJ & if he is smart he will sign the deal because he is a great fit in this offense. Carr probably gets cut - his contract is untradable unless he or his agent makes some allowances.
No way he's agreeing to play that far from home...Add in the enviroment weather, media etc and imo never happening...........I think he retires with "the Raiders did me dirty" and lost my passion for football bit........
Yeah, unfortunately I could see this happening as well.
What I'm hoping for is a team like the Jets (with a good defense to help out) to set a fire under him to get him going in a "prove them they are wrong" talk. Even if he went 9-8 and got them in the playoffs with that defense he comes out looking good. Then there is the money aspect, even with all the money he has made who knows what his true financial situation is and/or if somebody offered him a boatload of money.
It would also be an easy out for him if things went south. New coach, new system, new team. We have all seen this song and dance before...
I don’t get all the bitterness, here. Relief yes, okay, but Derek seems to be a great human being, and a great example of a stand up guy. He showed great character last year, throughout all that crap. I wish him prosperity and a great life.
That's just it, I don't think he is a great guy. I think he's an entitled self-indulgent punk who thinks he's much better than he is. If you could buy him for what he's worth, and sell him for what he thinks he's worth, you'd make a fortune.

But relative to football he's the Frenso fraud.

He can spin that forever, i.e., his wife and kids are more important to him than football; she demanded he retire or she would take jujitsu lessons; Heather is ready to be a pastor's wife, and so forth. I don't believe he has the will to start over on a new team, in a new system, with a new coach, living in a new home, proving himself to (hopefully) a new fan base. Standing in front of what would probably be a full church as the center of attention imparting his wisdom is maybe much more appealing to him. And televangelists make a ton of money. At least we won't have to wait five more years to find out.
I hope the media keeps saying Carr was done wrong and teams want him badly. Some team may trade for him so that another team can't get him. I also hope his brothers and stans fill his head with the glory of Derek.
Imagine getting a bonus for flushing this turd.
One can dream.
Let the line of suitors come forward with their glorious offers for our consideration then.
He never went out of his way to ever discourage an opponent. No matter how many opportunities he would get in the red zone, he rarely took advantage of them and was always nice enough to keep the other team in the game. In fact, he would take entire halves of games off, just to let the other team catch up. He was kind that way.
I love it!
Let the line of suitors come forward with their glorious offers for our consideration then.
Yep. If NFL teams think half as highly of him as his fans do, there's no way e.g. the Jets are going to potentially lose him in a bidding war to some other team. They'll make whatever deal they have to not risk him getting away.
I've seen some Carr fans say he's better than Aaron Rodgers. So alrighty then, if Rodgers is available and you can get him, you don't risk letting him get grabbed up in FA. You go out and get that boy.
So let's see what happens. :)
I said it before and I'll say it again. The 2014 draft looked like a draft for the ages. 2015 we grabbed Cooper and I was all in. I really thought we had the best nucleus of young talent in the league. 2016 we looked liked STUDS. WTF happened. We sank like a lead ballon. That draft ended up being shit. Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me a hundred times. f[raiders_icon]ck the past and just looking forward now. It will be nice to start a new story.
As part of the long and disjointed post-mortem being written in this thread, I think most of us believe that things went downhill when Washington provided the league a blueprint on how to deal with Carr. He never fully recovered from it.
That was in 2017.
