He wasn't that good before or during
True but somehow he's gotten even worse since that incident. Carr has always played well enough to keep his job. He's not even doing that right now.

The thing is, he is not terrible. He actually has some real skills and can throw the ball well. The pluses in his game are things you can really enjoy watching. It is his lack of pocket awareness and his decision making that makes you shake your head. It is remarkable how much he has changed his approach since he got paid. He was balls to the walls let it all hang out attitude in 2016. Now we wait for his latest boner moment or his next fumble.
I am obviously on the side that says he is not the answer, but I also think he is not trash. I actually think he would benefit from a change of scenery.

With that said he isn’t winning us the super bowl or making us a perennial winner deep into the playoffs. I’m sure you agree after watching him for the last decade. He just doesn’t have “it”

Dr. Jekyll is a good QB, Hyde is trash, as displayed in game 1, and 2 1/2 quarters in game 2. Seeing too much of Hyde lately.

I’m guessing we win today, note, that’s not predict.
And Carr will do enough that we’ll be carpet bombed with “elite” , “mvp” or some other non-sense. Expect stats about X “come from behind wins” (if we do indeed come back), tape don’t lie heaping praise, you name it.
Sorry , at this point of his career I need to see multi-year sustained success from Carr before I’m giving him any benefit of the doubt. And him playing well in one game? Great let’s see him do it week to week let alone a whole year.

If we lose we'll get carpet bombed with "fraud" "carrdashian" "dereka" and every thread, regrettably, turns into. This one withstanding.

Little heavy on the glue yourselves perhaps.

He was better than his average in 2020, but regressed to his mean thereafter. This year, instead of his fast start, he already looks to be in late season form.
At some point this season he's going to have some good games, but then will regress, etc. We've seen it for 8+ years now.
No QB survives that in today's NFL. Hell, it's difficult to think of a QB from any era in the NFL that managed to be as inconsistent and relatively unproductive as Carr yet still remain the entrenched starter. God. I just want to move on from this guy. It's easier to deal with a full on tear-down/rebuild than this yearly bullshit of doing backflips to provide Carr with everything he might need just to hopefully stumble into the playoffs.
