[quote=Attyla post_id=1066667]At some point everyone needs to do their job and shut the f[raiders_icon]ck up.
Now is that time. End of story, everyone needs to accept accountability for their game. Everyone.
Mark needs to accept responsibility for the front office shit. The coaching staff? They accepted this team, so get everything out of it you can. Everyone on offense? You signed your f[raiders_icon]cking contract. Play your f[raiders_icon]cking heart out. Same with the defense and special teams. And bottom line, shut the f[raiders_icon]ck up and play. I do not want to hear any more blame game.
Oh and the fans here? Expect them to play like hell. We are f[raiders_icon]cking Raider fans, not some knitting circle. Stop making excuses for anything less than the best. f[raiders_icon]ck, we use to get pissed at an individual loss, now we make excuses for losing seasons or losing a f[raiders_icon]cking playoff game. Stop excusing a player who f[raiders_icon]cks up because he is your favorite player.
Bottom line is, Stabler is far better than Carr because he won when it mattered. I do not give one f[raiders_icon]ck about the team around him. And neither should Carr.[/quote]There will never be a time that some folks will stop giving Carr a pass.
Look at last year, in games where he literally lost the game for us? “Someone else’s” fault from the usuals suspects.
Mind boggling, and yet at the same time not.

[quote=Attyla post_id=1066663]I gotta admit, I am kinda tired of giving this team a pass. We have been giving them a pass since 2017. I think it is time nobody gets any excuse for not excelling. On offense, they just added a huge weapon and the other significant weapons are returning. On defense, we brought in some big time players and it is time our high draft picks on defense over the last few years step up. I am not saying the staff should have a low pressure year, just the opposite, the staff should feel pressure like no other time. the other teams in our division just brought in big time talent just like us. I am sure Denver fans are not saying that their coaching staff is in a low pressure year because they just added a new new coaches and a new QB, just the opposite, they are probably saying that since they got Wilson they should be in a win now mindset. If Carr is a top 10 QB, we should be saying the same. Hell, everyone is saying the system is the same he won with in 2016. Well OK then, let's see if he has it to go.[/quote]This is basically what I was trying to say in my other post, but this is more clearly stated.
The bar for this year should be excellence— we brought in pieces for a win now team, so let’s win now. Any moment we’re not excellent is wasting moments in our window. There should be real urgency.
And if we’re anything less than excellent, I think we need to make real changes. Heading in the right direction is not good enough to justify the moves that we made — the expectation should be that this roster is equipped to succeed on day 1

denial is an insidious thing

[quote=DSOTM post_id=1066681]I could care less if Carr is our Qb or not. Until there is a option out there to upgrade the Qb position I guess Carr is my guy as I don’t see a better Qb that is available.[/quote]Some people on this board act like the Raiders were winning 12-13 games a year and then Carr came in and f[raiders_icon]cked everything up, and started losing on his own.
Apparently some people have short memories and don't remember Aaron Brooks, Daunte Culpepper, Jamarcus, Kerry Collins, Andrew Walter, etc etc etc

THAT is your measuring stick? Compare him to the shit the Raiders were saddled with? Well, I have news for you, most of the QBs in the league by this standard would be considered pretty damn good.
What were we thinking? I mean, damn, how can we be critical of Carr when he is better than the disasters that immediately preceded him.
I have news for you, some of us have watched and remember the years when the Raiders were winning Super Bowls and going to the playoffs on a regular basis. We are NOT happy with where this franchise has been for the last 20 years. We do not compare our QB with shit to make us feel better. We EXPECT more.
We do not have short memories, no quite the opposite we have GOOD memories and remember what excellence looks like. We remember what winning on a regular basis looks like. We remember when the Raiders hit the field and we were proud of the manner they fought tooth and nail for every yard and hated to lose.
We remember quite well and that is why we are critical. Got it?

8 years of Derek. Zero years with a playoff win.
He is absolutely part of that failure. The guy chokes yearly, you know, right about the time playoffs are discussed.
You won't sell me on some bull about how bad we were before. Zero playoff wins before, zero now. Go enjoy your statbook and participation trophy.

Elite QBs don’t grow on trees and a lot of the sentiment (not you specifically) around replacing Carr fails to appreciate that the odds of us finding a worse QB are probably greater than the odds of us finding a better one.
That’s not to say we should be so risk averse that we never attempt to find a better QB. Simply that we should proceed with caution and be picky.

Great, so he has better regular season numbers than the others. Awesome. Too bad they haven't led to anything

watch the play again. Carr rushes the throw against phantom pressure into triple...triple....triple...coverage while Waller is breaking into the flag route with zero...zero...zero...coverage.
I am not condoning replacing Carr but I am condoning not excusing bad play or making excuses for bad play. I am also too long in the tooth to put up with bitch ass player fans telling me that expecting the single most important player on the field to be responsible for his play is a not a reasonable expectation (not referring to you, the one's I am referring to know who they are)

The whataboutism doesn't really work here, Mahommes put up a 92 rating against that same team in the playoffs.
Derek Carr played like Dalton out there. That is a fact. He also sucked the last 6 games of the season, he made some late plays but he sucked the other 3 quarters and lost the ball like a pinata in that stretch.
If only it was 'one game'. Sadly it is a proven fact after 8 years that Carr sucks in November and December, and we know now that he is even worse in January.
He is brave and hopeful early in the year, that never lasts long. 'Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth' is basically Derek in a nutshell. There is no risk in replacing a choker, no matter how many participation trophies some want to give him.
He will never, ever, ever make it through four playoff games - this year will just cement that fact when he chokes for the fourth year in a row when the playoffs are in sight.
There is no sanity in 'carrying' a 40 million dollar QB to the playoffs like the team did last year.
