What do you think McD will try to do with Carr to improve him where others failed?Serious question and am curious...Personally I feel Carr has alot of serious flaws to his game and I wonder if McD tries to change or improve some areas or just better schemes to the few things Carr does well to help him.
Playing constantly out of the gun with ineffective playaction has really handicapped the offense imo and I just don't see McD offense being as good as what it could be with a QB that is comfortable in all sets.Just my .02

Cousins had 33 TD's and 7 int's this past season . Better career win/loss record, has played in more playoff games and since you think that Herbert isn't good enough to even be brought up in comparison to the Qb here since the Chargers lost the final game with the Qb here throwing for less than 200 yards, why don't you go compare the way the Qb here played against Cousins the last time they did.
I’m all for trading away Darren Waller for a few picks to add weapons & save cap i mean he barely did anything last year when he was actually fit, so why not sign a guy like David Njoku then use that draft capital to sign up a replacement & something else
If we traded Carr which i honestly wouldn't be against if we got some draft capital for next year (at least a1st),getting pick got Carr & Waller we could load this team up for the next potential guy. I’ll say it after the way he played this year i think Winston could offer up 23 TD’s & 27 TO plus nearly 5K yards he already has a 5K season under his belt
Not that these trades will happen but it offers up an option at QB that everyone says there isnt
So w
Njoku is likely to cost as much if not even more than Waller's current contract.
Waller is grossly underpaid if one considers him a top 3-5 TE.
I don't see Waller's representation sitting tight with their client getting paid 7 mil with no guaranteed money left on his contract if the Qb ends up getting 35-40. I could see them pushing for a restructure or trade if that happens.
The only thing with franchise tagging him is what would his on field performance be? Does he make "business decisions" like we've seen before or does he go out and play as he should? I know what my answer is
He makes business decisions with a guaranteed contract. He never stands in there and takes a hit to deliver a strike
I just don’t see what the rush is to resign Carr. Make him play this season out and earn the new contract. We always have the franchise tag in our back pocket.
If you are taking a step back at the QB position you are getting worse. If you are getting worse you are gravitating in the direction of a rebuild. Broncos have assembled a roster which is top to bottom better than the Raiders except at the QB position and it’s why the Raiders keep finishing ahead of them. If the plan is to finish last in the division, trading Carr will absolutely achieve that.
You don’t think a two to one touchdown to interception ratio is fairly easily replaced.

Sad to say, but if the reports are true, this appears to be the case.

I dont understand the Raiders commitment to Carr. Has any team ever committed 10 years to such a mediocre quarterback? The only comp I can think of is Eli Manning, but he had a super bowl victory on his resume.
I don’t think you understand what a one read QB is.
Let’s not make up stuff. Carr goes through his reads.
The clip of Desean Jackson frantically waving at Carr to throw it to him while he's crossing wide open while Carr is staring down a double covered Waller says otherwise.

I’m guessing his eyes were closed on that play.
Let’s not act like Gannon was some teams starting QB from his rookie year and didn’t fall into the perfect situation with a young Gruden… however you are right, Gannon became a top QB for about 3-4 seasons late in his career. Brady was drafted 7th round and became the GOAT QB… how often do those 2 things happen? I’d be more inclined to agree if Carr had not been showing he’s the same QB since he came into the league.
Gannon and Carr are so much different. Rich was a late round draft pick who was seen as a backup and never the starter. He didn't have the arm, he wasn't a classic dropback QB, etc. Both the Vikings and Chiefs started inferior QBs over him because they drafted those QBs in the first round.
But what Gannon had in spades was work ethic and the ability to make things happen. He had sky-high football IQ and was always aware of what was happening on the field. And while he didn't have a cannon, his arm strength was better than what he was given credit for.
If Gannon had been handed a starting role in Minnesota and if they would've stuck with him, they never would've traded him.
Carr rode in as the clear future if not immediate starter. He came in expecting to be the unquestioned starter and he still expects it. Gannon had to earn every snap and he played like it.
