Raiders redzone efficiency:
2021 ranked 29th
2020 ranked 23rd
2019 ranked 22nd
2018 ranked 22nd
2017 ranked 8th
2016 ranked 13th
2015 ranked 8th
2014 ranked 1st
It seems Derek Carr regressed in the redzone throughout the years, was it Gruden's playbook? Under Gruden, Carr's completion percentage and passing yards went up, but the redzone efficiency went way down.

You were looking at Raider's redzone efficiency. The stats you posted included the running backs - this is Derek:
https://mobile.twitter.com/JoshDubowAP/ ... SA4pMpAAAA
He has never been good when the field shrinks and he was 1 for 8 within the 10 yard line in his playoff choke. Once the yards start to matter he can't get them anymore.

Raiders would have been more successful putting Mariota in when the Raiders were in the redzone this past season imo. Mariota was very successful in the redzone when he played for Tennessee.

Putting Mariota in with Carr lined up as receiver was pathetic. Maybe the reason was to not break Carr's ego by taking him out?
The 2 blowout losses vs the chiefs, why was Carr not benched when the game was out of reach, to give Mariota a look?

I have no idea in reality, but that is what I feel kept him off the field. When he left the Titans there were rumors that his shoulder was shot.
He does have problems staying on the field also, but we definitely should have used him more.
I hope I am wrong on all accounts and he does get another shot at it like you said. He is a wonderful teammate from all I have seen both from us and the Titans. Mr. Professional.
Mac Jones had 521 passing attempts, 22 td passes, 13 interceptions and 7 fumbles.
Derek Carr had 624 passing attempts, 23 td passes, 14 interceptions and 13 fumbles.
104 more pass attempts will help with the passing yards part. The problem is that 104 more pass attempts equaled only 1 more passing td.
Plus 1 interception and 6 fumbles less for Mac. Honestly these two in statlines are incredibly close. Turnovers are killers.
Good spot and good call out Willmark. Anyone want to take a bet which one is better next year? Knowing what I know about Carr in a new system, Mac outplays Carr next year is my guess.

Carr has not improved in an eternity. It is the same ole same ole year after year. We all know his deficiencies. Most of this is correctable and I have hope every season that most has been corrected. I am tired of the disappointment. I hope our next coach does not have unrealistic goals concerning his game because we can not waste the time. Part of me wants to see what a new staff can do and what Carr looks like coming out of the laboratory. However, reality is a mother f[raiders_icon]cker and I do not expect anything. Having him continue to hold the reigns because our hideous track record with QB's is no longer an excuse going forward. I honestly like Carr but the fact remains that the longer we don't fix it, the worse the pain will be.

Also good analysis everyone pro or con as even with stats, some of it is throw it against the wall and see what sticks. It’s also refreshing to see thoughtful discussion on the matter.

There are far too many variables - what if AB played (and behaved), what about injuries (Incognito, Waller....), poor driving (Ruggs), poor refereeing (NFL hate), poor weather conditions, Etc. etc. How many times have we seen a receiver have the ball knocked out when he should have retained it.....
If it was relatively easy to compare performance the game would be boring. Who expected the Buccs and Packers to lose last week?

Mac at 9 million and Carr at 20, I take Carr. Mac at 9 and Carr at 35, I take Mac.
Of course, it is all guesswork and I trust it does not matter either way, apparently Mark is running a bed and breakfast for Carr. The new coach is getting forced into that. I have never known Attyla to be insincere.

the Texans drafted David Carr with the 1st overall pick on 420. The Texans must've been high
Aesome breakdown man, I agree they are not equal, but Mac + 26 million on the team is far better than Carr was all I said.
Carr did take 100 more attempts to even get the yards he did, if yards are all we are looking at. I am more into TDs, turnovers, TD%, Int% myself. The things that actually affect a win loss rate and those are even up or close enough to it. Yards mean very very little, there is not a more empty stat. Bortles had a 4500 yard season.
Again as well, this was four years in the same system Carr compared to a second year starter. Mac will improve next year - Carr will regress. I guarantee that.
If we are going to drag average to the playoffs, we better put a hell of a team around that guy. Mac is 9 million next year and 5 the year after. The Patriots have two years to sort the next starter if they need to, while having a ton of cap to find and keep the right free agents to make a run, and I would much rather be in their shoes.
Mac is a rookie this year
